And then bring it up later on in the story as an important plot point when almost everyone has forgotten about it. Most of the time, it kills the pace when they go this direction.
At the very least, there is a subtle acknowledgement of the genderswap that likely won't ever be going away. I brought it up in the previous chapter's thread. Reisu's feathers are using male ostrich coloration.
Telling adult male and female ostriches apart is very simple. The male has mostly black plumage, whereas the female is mostly gray-brown or beige.

The male is also considerably larger in some cases, measuring up to 2.5m to 2.8m tall vs. 2m for the females.

Young and juvenile ostriches are harder to tell apart. Juvenile female ostriches retain lighter brown beige feathers, whereas male juvenile ostriches gradually darken into their black plumage. This takes around 1.5 years.

Aside from size and plumage, males and females share virtually every characteristic. They have long necks, large eyes with long eyelashes, super-long powerful legs, and bulky bodies.

They ate a merchant's entire food stall, didn't they?
My thoughts exactly. Up until now, they've operated on "what belongs to one of us, belongs to all of us", so they wouldn't have the barest hint of understanding what trade is. Reisu would be quick to try to teach, and scold them for stealing, but she's the only one I can imagine could get them to apologize like that without becoming breakfast.
No, they ate all the ass belonging to the merchants' daughter and then received praise from reisu.
"My cabbages!!!"
Skyrim's special 100 wheels of cheese cabbages
Ah,a classic.

If they are supposed to remain wild, due to them losing their fear of humans.
Foodgiving is also used in taming wild animals.
Ostrich's fear of human... that ship already sailed!

Seems my assumption last chapter came true, they are strong enough to be a calamity if cut loose. Though its a little disappointing there's human calamities, those sound way way stronger than usual strong characters in a series.

So relatable

Always nice to see a character using their brain. Recruiting the flock as this country's army would be a win-win situation tbh:
The state will have to provide them with shelter and food, and in return, they can put their strength to good use. Additionally, by defending this country, they should earn the citizens' respect, so no one should try to harm the little ones. If only because of the difference in status.
In any case, I think getting Matilde on their side is a great thing...

Thanks for the upload!

Agreed, I've been reading some power fantasy slap manga recently and its a never ending tide of "Oh is that guy actually a world destroying calamity? Nah, cant be, lets attack him without a second thought".

Yeah, the rule exists for normal wild animals that avoid humans normally, as they lose that fear and come near people, which often ends really badly. It doesn't apply to the ostrich monster girls in the first place, yeah.

This is REALLY good. Probably the most creative... okay, even I can't say that with a straight face, but I had fun, dammit! Keep up the good work on this series, it's rare to see an isekai concept this good (and one that actually uses the reincarnation thing for something plot relevant)!

What are the odds that some idiot guy shows up, starts a fight and in return gets the city destroyed?

I hope the little ones can adjust to human society. Wouldn’t want the peace negotiations crumbling down because one of them accidentally kicked someone, or mistook some folks for breakfast.

Matilde's certainly a smart one and loved the observation that their eye are mirrors. Going to be risky for the town, one person gets angry at one bird for stealing food, being too dumb to understand the concept of ownership, and the whole flock foes on a murder spree.
