It's one of those "genderswap isekai" where neither the genderswap nor the isekai are relevant after the first few pages of chapter 1. MC doesn't even have a Japanese name. It's just a cheap plot device to make the OP MC more relatable to the target audience.
The isekai is how MC developed enough intelligence to interact with humans. I mean I suppose the author could've just said "random gene mutation made MC smarter." But I think isekai is actually a better mechanism in this case. It saves him from having to go through a lengthy arc about MC learning the language (or even figuring out what language is). And it protects him from future plot holes, where MC does something "obvious" to humans like the readers, but that MC clearly wouldn't have known to do with only beastkin knowledge. Plus it gave him an excuse to exposit their regenerative abilities.

They ate a merchant's entire food stall, didn't they?
That's actually preferable, no? Merchants can be placated by payment, and it sounds like MC just needs to gather a few feathers which fall off naturally to make money. If OTOH they ate a farmer's breeding livestock, that'd be a lot harder to provide compensation.

At the very least, there is a subtle acknowledgement of the genderswap that likely won't ever be going away. I brought it up in the previous chapter's thread. Reisu's feathers are using male ostrich coloration.
Ha ha. I've been wondering where the males are if the entire flock is female. Several species of wrasse (in particular the California Sheephead) are all female. The largest in the area turns into a male (with different coloration). If you catch it and remove it, the largest remaining female turns into a male. (Not saying that's gonna happen in the story. Just that reality is sometimes stranger than fiction.)

Going to be risky for the town, one person gets angry at one bird for stealing food, being too dumb to understand the concept of ownership, and the whole flock goes on a murder spree.
It wouldn't be unprecedented. If you visit a hog farm, the farmers will tell you the most important thing is to not fall down while you're in their pen. Because if that happens, they will see you as food, and kill you and eat you before anyone can help you up.

How exactly does fighting somebody prove they are trustworthy
That makes no sense
That was just a fake excuse she gave (which works in this case because MC is clueless about human customs in this world). She heard how strong they were (took down an earth dragon/worm, easily wiped out an orc village), and wanted to confirm it for herself.

She was thinking ahead for the good of her country. As her exposition states, other countries have exceptional class people to help them in wars, with the most belligerent country having multiple such people. But her country has none, making their survival precarious. She was thinking if she can befriend MC and her flock, and successfully integrate them into her country's society, they could become their country's exceptional class combatants to help protect them from wars. But she first needed to confirm that they really were that strong.
