The littles are definitely gonna need plenty of space and food. Farmland, a barn or two to sleep in, cheap easy and fast to grow crops, and undoubtedly monsters to hunt. Though I’d say non-magic using monsters are the safest kind of breakfast for the littles since they are melee focused. Magic and elemental attacks are the most dangerous thing for our birdbrains.

I wouldn't be so sure.

Their feathers make them stupidly resistant to most forms of magic. The elf lady was even talking in a previous chapter that their feathers would make expensive magic tools just from a single feather, which is why she brought up whether it was a good idea in the first place to go into civilization with such a massive population. The sheer fact that Reisu, evolved as she is still, can go mano-e-mano with a Bikubiku/Rey Dau and still come out alive is very telling at just how absurdly strong Ostrich-kin are. Yes, the little ones couldn't survive a direct hit it seems, but the Plateau is also an Endgame zone in comparison to anywhere else it seems.

Hell, the second thing we see the herd kill in the entire manga is an "earth dragon" which was basically a Sandworm the size of a train at least and it only took Reisu doing a little bit of guiding for them to cut it in half.
