I guess we know why Damemaru is so hard to kill. His flesh is so foul that it turns corpses into devil like entities and transforms cannibals into abominations with insatiable hunger.

Welp, can't exploit Damemaru's ability to respawn to feed Destruction. I guess pirate baiting is the only way to go for now.

Ok, new spoilers that confirm my theory:

DAMEMARU IS THE DEVIL FROM DOROHEDORO
1. The devil in dorohedoro made the magicians, literally giving them life and powers.
2. Here we see a creature that consumed the meat of the Devil, making him mutate and gain wisdom.
3. Beings that are devoured by this creature seem to have the shape of lesser demons.
4. Shimada Death acknowledge something or someone that she once was never able to kill, maybe this is Q Hayashida Throwing us off the trail and coming up with something random or this is her; I believe she is trying to throw us of, otherwise, the devil from Dorohedoro wouldn't be so lonely to the point of giving life to The Hole, since he would be aware of Shimada existance.
5. But then again, maybe she tried to kill damemaru after he became human at some point that Damemaru doesn't remember, after all, we don't know for how long he has liver.

Didn't Shimada "kill" Damemaru at least once in the main story? I was fairly sure that's what she's referring to, which is why she concluded that Damemaru had something to do with the black blob creatures.
