There's no way people can look at the utter dominance of incest porn, and people calling people they find attractive mommy/daddy, and referring to people with intimacy issues as having mommy/daddy issues, and still act like Freud didn't have a point
Oh he had some points alright. Some right, mostly wrong.
His research was influenced by his own biases. He may have laid down the groundwork for the study of human spych, but that was a flawed foundation.
To give him some grace, many of the reason he was wrong was simply that psychology was a relatively new science in his time.
But he was huffing his own farts and cocaine. Thinking that by only therapy talking(not that he was a got therapist ether) to handful of people he could map all of humanity's mind. He use lots of wrong formulas to get some right answers.
He was on the right track when it came to the unconscious mind and how it shapes ones reactions, but he is not the only one or first that came to those conclusions.
We stand on the shoulders of giants, but I consider Freud one hunched ones.
I blame pop psychology(that in turn blame Freud and sertan magazine writers) and pop culture for all that mommy/daddy stuff. It's a simple shorthand wanting some one to the point of simpering.
It's a way to say that one would do anything that person says to get intimate with them, to liken them to an authority figure is quik and easy.
And incest porn is dominating because it's an easy plot to give porn +5 in sinfulness and taboo.
Just say in the beginning "Oh no
[family member] we are
[family members], but I still want you
[family member]. Just don't say anything to
[family members]." Then just continue to film them knocking boots or whatever the director want. Maybe even bring inn
[family member] to spice up the plot.
It's a plot hook that that is more fake than wrestling(that's totally real, I still remember that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 5 meters through an announcer's table).
For some reason porn with a little
plot is more enticing for a wider audience, so nowadays get we get some minutes of plot before the action.
