Interesting point. I feel like a pregnancy prevention pill may have been a remnant from when male birth rates weren't so low, though that being a thing in this world isn't confirmed.

It would make sense if it didn't exist here though, considering that it's primarily females that initiate and that effectively gives them 90% of the decision making power on if they have a kid or not, which is a lot more than in our world.

I would assume certain professions require it to keep things functional. Military groups aren't going to be particularly functional if, for example, while deployed somewhere a bunch of soldiers get themselves knocked up.

I would assume certain professions require it to keep things functional. Military groups aren't going to be particularly functional if, for example, while deployed somewhere a bunch of soldiers get themselves knocked up.

In that case, the pill would certainly be something rare and sell very low, plus research on it would be scarce. It's unlikely it would be a cheap medicine that you can just casually say "I took some contraceptive pills and everything should be fine now", unless she is a rich girl, which is not supposed to be her character trait.
The best comparison I can give is Ozempic. The medicine exists for many years to help with diabetes, then they created a different dosage for weight loss, and only people with a lot of cash can buy it.

Birth control is also used to help regulate menstruation. And I imagine there are cases (someone mentioned military deployment) where pregnancy isn't optimal at the time such as being in high school and needing to graduate.
