I guess the word "villainess" hv evolved from a female character to trope to a genre.
Any story that have a character that is banished/to be banished/avoid the banishment during condemnation event would fall under "villainess" genre. Read a lot these "villainess" mangas has this exact situation, although the MC wasn't a villainess in the first place.
