I only check on this manga randomly so I don't know the full story or if its even true but didn't the author receive back lash over whatever he did with the old teacher and the main chick? Why would he do something even worse than that despite the previous back lash?

I think the backlash was because it was forced/blackmail not because of the Ntr itself, the author himself was dissatisfied with the route.

Currently there is nothing to retcon.

I don’t think it had anything to do with a fan backlash. If I remember correctly Takeda Super felt he wrote himself into a corner in terms of the longevity and entertainment value of the story, and so reset the continuity entirely.
