What's crazy about this chapter is that it basically gave us confirmation that Gotoh-kun is a pretty impressionable guy. He falls in love with whoever he ends up having sex with, and he feels like it's impossible to separate sex from catching feelings. And when you're as young as he is, of course that's going to happen. But this chapter also zeroed in on something else: when the president asked him if he had feelings for Agawa-san, he hesitated — which is dramatically different from how he acted earlier in the series. Back then, when he confessed to Agawa-san and she rejected him, she made it clear she just wanted to be sex friends.
Now that we know one of the people Gotoh caught feelings for is Akito-chan, the writer could have easily made her the rival — the positive influence who slowly weans Gotoh away from Agawa-san. But now, it’s looking like the president might end up being that character instead, and I find that oddly satisfying, if that makes sense. Here's someone who wasn’t expected to have a big influence on Gotoh, but not only steps up to fill that role, she could easily end up being the "final boss" of the series — the girl he ultimately ends up with.
Because at this point, Agawa-san has shown him over and over that she’s not the one for him. And maybe this little arc with Gotoh is going to end up being a key part of his development moving forward. I just thought that was really interesting.
