We see this part of her in the retconned timeline, as she blushes when Gotou chose her over Shiina and struggles to figure out what to do about this situation with Gotou. Sure, Agawa sleeps around and enjoys it, but I think it's mainly a coping mechanism to hide this fragile side of her, which prob originated from family issues (missing dad, being one-upped by Shiina, etc.).

While I definitely think that Agawa is definitely a toxic influence on Gotou, I can still see that it’s not because she’s intentionally trying to manipulate Gotou, but because she was struggling to accept his true feelings towards her and tried to keep him at arms length; which tragically backfired on her when she did try to get close to him again.
