Honestly, I feel relieved by the fact that the team is back together again and that the ghost hunt starts anew. I was getting worried about series not giving enough focus to Eiko and Keitaro, but since they are back in the picture, I can wait patiently for the next issue.

If it was any other villains or other manage, i would say Taisai was plotting something and manipulating the girl to screw them all. But this dude is a Battle junkie thru and thru so he definitely just dont wanna miss out on all the fights.
Theres truth in what he said though, the lineage that houses him probably got infected with his thrill seeking tendencies and actually enjoys battle on the subconcious level

I'm actually really enjoying the development where we follow yayoi through the spiritualist world. Really puts into perspective that the shi she was pulling was absolutely not orthodox and by all means should NOT have worked. Also the damn near battle shounen-ish feel is funny whiplash too

Nah. It looks like that Taisai is trying to train to control spiritual energy below nano level like Mamoru.

Damn that prophecy is menacing, Keitaro died trying to protect Yayoi and Mamoru was the only one left standing. I do hope Ai not became liability anymore after Taisai's "injection" also for Keitaro to be able to summon Abe's shikigami on will

Thinking about it, it IS funny no one realised Yayoi doing Yayoi stuff. Not as big as top tier exoercist but it's not like Yayoi being subtle about her activities lol

Most of them are a being hush'ed down as "Urban Legend" and few curious people are "small prices to pay" to hide the truth, to not let civilian panic.

Maybe some of the spiritualist noticed that some of the ghost disappear, but thought it's natural (ghost eat ghost moment), or the energy level that was gone, was within expected (the bane of having too strict organization)

It's not until Taisai that a level of energy disappearance was too high to ignore, I guess?

Altho I wonder if they can sense the Ghost in Yayoi's house or not because it was sealed inside a doll, iirc Keitaro was able to sense the malice in early chapter?

That being said, Oboss face when he heard Yayoi cursed entire Kyoto though.

The whole Ramen scene was great in terms of character expression from Yayoi. I love that she's stoic, but it is a good reminder that she can emote and she's not emotionally dead. As for that prophecy...yeah, in addition to Ai getting to fight, Keitaro NEEDS to also start training, IMO. At the very least, learn some onmyouji techniques, like that stomping barrier. Maybe even try to get his own shikigami that is on par to what Seimei has.

37 pages (spreads count as 2)? Nice, getting back up there! A good chapter for turning the camera back to our squad before visiting the haunts again.

This egg-like object from the proctor... will it eventually turn into the tool for commanding Shikigami? Am I right that the power will be akin to Terastallization, and this will be our Tera Orb!?

Mamoru's gifting Yayoi her Graduate House #2? We can finally heal up our spirits? THANK YOU!!

Oh wow, so Operation Bellflower Regicide was a real no-go territory for the Spiritualists? (And in contrast, Seimei thought it was okay to let her go ahead...) But yeah, a whole citywide curse could've easily gone awry, so they're not wrong.

I'm loving this reluctant pupil relationship so far, Yayoi has so many fresh expressions

Not just the Protected

Wow, this chapter exactly answered my concerns from 5 months back

As expected, Ai is so shaken up she wanted to be on the bench. Heck, until she spoke up, I was worried her mind outright broke down.

Wanting everyone to cease ghost-hunting and away from danger though... understandable, she already brought enough misfortune and lost enough people in her life.

The conversation with Tai Sui... is this, Kondo-sensei's way to give Ai her personal brand of madness on par with the rest of the squad? Of wielding overwhelming power and going on a power trip?

Still, I salute her courage. I really hope she won't have to suffer too much from now on.

The Vision

That vision. Don't know if we can discount that as just being the absolute worst timeline or what. Heck, with the variety of prophetic and fortune telling arts that're likely out there in this world, who even knows what to put our stock in?

I say the important takeaways are these:

  • Given Shami's presence, this scene likely will take place within Tokyo grounds. (Possibly the final phase of the Replaced's coming Night Parade?)
  • Since Kuubou is present, once the encounter starts Yayoi will refuse to run away, even if she's losing
  • We're going to need more than just Mamoru, Shami and Yayoi (with full arsenal) to get through this
I can only assume that this scene is taking place in the final act of the Replaced's coming Night Parade. At which of these points will it take place?

  1. During or right after K Tunnel? (Shami would likely be nearby)
  2. Before Yayoi's legendary trio challenge? (Yayoi wouldn't have Shikigami command power yet)
  3. After Yayoi's legendary trio challenge? (Yayoi would have Shikigami power, but spirits will be fatigued if not enough recovery time)
As for how Ai's presence can make a difference... I can't quite see this as a matter of overpowering their foes, but perhaps provide defense and possibly Shiniku healing?

Well, Gojo is a Kakashi expy to begin with, so it's kinda the same thing :wooow:
Given Gege's professed love for World Trigger, I'd say Gojo is in fact a Jin Yuichi expy. The two of them play considerably similar roles in their series.
If it was any other villains or other manage, i would say Taisai was plotting something and manipulating the girl to screw them all. But this dude is a Battle junkie thru and thru so he definitely just dont wanna miss out on all the fights.
While there's no questioning Tai Sui wants to join the big fight, I assess that he's also motivated to ensure Yayoi will survive. He needs her to get him back to full strength for fighting his Main Body.

Eh, Kondo-sensei's writing had been so solid and methodical (as proven by the Kyoto Arc) that I was never worried Keitaro and Eiko would be sidelined or lose focus. Heck, by virtue that we'd never stray from Yayoi's journey to be a Pokemon Ghost Master, we'd get focus back on her friends and family eventually.

Consider these points:
  • Before Yayoi left for Kyoto, she requested Shami to rally together her trusted spiritualist associates for confronting the Replaced. While the meeting we saw was for a different purpose (Tai Sui's defeat), we can consider meeting the Supervisors as pay-off for what Kondo-sensei set up years in advance
  • And now with meeting these Supervisors, I quickly saw two purposes behind them: (i) to heighten the threat of the Replaced, and (ii) to lay the ground for the future post-Tokyo National Tour
Overall I liked this arc because this world-building helps illustrate just what kind of battlefield Yayoi had really roped Keitaro and Eiko into, and what kinds of places they could end up in from now on.

Oboss’s best influence so far was to give Yayoi’s face muscles some exercises….i swear she only had the deadpan face since the beginning until Oboss got involved

I also enjoy these fresh expression from Yayoi. She may believe that she lost most of her emotions due to her accident, but her interactions with Oboss thoroughly shows that she's far from that point. The more new experiences she goes through, the more new emotions she unwittingly discovers.

It proves that despite her eeriness and madness, she is indeed still human, still a kid in many ways. Relievingly so.

I also trust the author, I'm just pointing out that I have missed Eiko and Keitaro, since they weren't present for the whole train ride arc.

The world building was stellar though. I admit that I did enjoy the spiritualists' showcase.

I had some slight hope when I saw the title of the chapter in my feed, but judging from the comments this is still being dragged out just as when I dropped it after the fight with the Chinese boy. And, even if I had the inclination to read it, I'd have to look for it elsewhere since they removed most of the manga from here and, quite frankly, I cannot be bothered to do a simple search for it. Another battle shounen dropped. At this point I don't think I'll ever finish one in my entire life.

So you dropped it after a major arc concluded, and before the next arc started yet your complaining that its being dragged out...?

We are at the third minor arc after the conclusion of the longest major arc in the story. I have to ask, legitimately what do you even consider "being dragged out"? I'm going to repeat myself for emphasis, we have had literally two whole minor arcs after the final battle concluded and we are now at start of the third arc, with Yayoi preparing another great hunt around the Tokyo.

He's also seemingly oblivious to the fact that we are at about third minor arc after the end of Murder of The Lord major arc at the moment. We already had the hospital/backstory arc, we had the cursed train arc and we are right now in at start of Yayoi's team training up to become stronger for the battles ahead. Guy is literally not reading the story, just spoiling himself with the comments and has a gall to act as if the story was still stuck at the aftermath of the Kyoto finale.

So you lied about dropping it

I like that Keitarou died in front of Yayoi, showing that despite the fact that he failed, he was still trying to protect Yayoi till the very end, by literally using his body to shield her.
A futile effort in the end, even sadder since it looks like he likely attempted the Piccolo defense maneuver, only for the attack to have pierced through him and then through Yayoi, killing her dead.
