I went to an "gifted" school in my country, and this is pretty much how this is done lol. they just assign readings, and hands out assignments. 90% is self-study, and learn from other students and upperclassmen.

I was thinking the same thing. Hell, they didn't even teach him the basic rules like, what's allowed and what isn't. Ntm, he's supposed to be good with magic but he just tries the same thing over and over? Also, he doesn't know any AOE spells? He broke apart that spell and made it shoot multiple directions chapters ago, but couldn't do the same here? This whole chapter was nonsense.

Appreciate seeing the MC actually struggle against older and more experienced opponents. Though that senpai was totally helping the competition and her lesson feels like something educators should be giving.

Genius world problems, I guess. I can sorta see a scenario where schools like this pop up due to too many brilliant students doing better studying at their own pace rather than slowing down to match the cirriculum.
