It's very annoying how often you see "I technically didn't lie" in japanese writing. The best lies are mixed with truth. It's either a lie and truth, nothing between. if a truth is tainted, no matter how much, it becomes a lie.
The part about him being asked if he is a hero, to which he replied "I'm a peddler" (p11), is a blatant lie. We already established in the story itself that heroes are given the title "hero". What does the MC have? The title Hero.

Not quite, what he did was to tell half truths or partial truths. Yes he’s got the title of hero but his chosen occupation is that of a peddler. It’s similar to how people don’t share the whole story sometimes just the parts they’re comfortable with sharing. A real life example I can share is a friend that went through some tough times but weren’t ready to share everything and only told me a part of what was happening, only found out about it when they were ready to share more. Does it mean the things they shared were lies? No, just that it wasn’t the whole truth and they weren’t ready to share everything for various reasons.

@GrimGriefer rather than a lie, it's more of a distraction though.
it's the equivalent of answering "the sky is blue" to someone asking "1+1=?"

does not answering the question counts as a lie to you?

he's peddling goods so he's a peddler
it's not a lie

just because you have master degree, doesn't mean you are prohibited from saying you graduated from high school X

@hikufalafel "I guess not everyone can be pleased."

People need to realize that complaining that something doesn't suit their personal tastes is not a legitimate complaint, especially when they're enjoying the fruits of someone else's labor.

@anon_whos_not_a_fag Funny thing is, later in the WN, he actually does that. Unconsciously and slowly bending the world to his will and making everyone's lives better. But guess what happened? Readers began to complain why Satou has to be another all-benevolent MC.

The author can't please everyone.

Wait what? Since when does he possess the title of the hero? Didn't he explicitly state that he didn't at the start of the manga, and there was no indication that this has changed at some point?

@PaterFrog He got the hero title in chapter 12 after he killed that big demon in the first labyrinth he got forced into.
