Its not that rare these days, in fact id sag its common in 2020 era manga. Maybe its the spirit of Abe trying to revive the birthrate, but a lot of the ones im reading now, ranging from this one to "my boss is scary" to "my divorced crybaby neighbor" involve an adult, reasonably well put together man making friends with a similarly mature woman, either a neighbor or coworker, deepening their relationship, and then boning for fanbox content before the first quarter or third of the series is through.

I feel like since digital drawing has a lower barrier to entry than analog, which that means that anyone can become a manga writer these days instead of the most devoted to learning the craft, and therefore there's a larger influx of romance writers who've actually experienced romance in the real world into the space

I still think this is moving a bit too fast. Don't get me wrong, I love getting to the good part in romcoms and they don't drag things further than they need to, but still, this is moving a little too fast and she's practically throwing herself at him too easily. I agree with this. At the same time, while it does fit the title she has been given somewhat, what I don’t understand is why her first friend seemingly bailed.

While yes, this is clearly not a lot of space, it’s not done in a very overbearing way. Like maybe if she kept pushing everything, kept being paranoid or things in that nature, I’d understand. But she really is just a friend acting more like a significant other which just makes everything seem like it’s going fast, rather than her being overbearing. I couldn’t imagine dropping someone over this unless the behavior got so much worse.
