I really wonder how this won over other competitors to be published. The others must be serious hot garbage if this won over them.

@ginongo:
It is most likely that it is quite a bit easier to present an interesting theme / idea in a short story where you only introduce that topic and hint at the potential it has.
But then really realizing that potential and making a good story based on it without side-tracking or starting nonsense type of development is the hard part.

So the short story the author created to start this probably was promising in the jury's eyes.
But now in the serialization the author was not able to live up to those expectations.

the art's nice at least, and the premise isn't awful. just you can't really do much when you have a slime beating up a dragon at the intro and try to pretend that it's a manga about a weakling beating the strong it'd honestly be better to just try and shift it into a satirical/comedy at that point instead of trying to take it seriously.

@ginongo Your comment makes no sense. Just because something is good as a one shot doesn't mean it'd be good as a series. And endings are almost always crap, even if the series was good and wasn't axed (and this story doesn't fit that category sadly).

Yeah, it was a good idea, but they quickly sent thenselves into a deadend on where to take the plot. The starting story was shallow enough, but add in the power gaps are essentially meaningless for MC because of plot armor, then this story has no where to go. Thus the axe.

It’s always nice to finally put to bed a long neglected series. Thanks for that!
