Spoiler for the end of the main story (though reading this bible is already a spoiler huh)
I wonder what happened to him after the end of the main story, we see Yaad (I think) at the end trying to wrangle Laios into doing his kingly duties, but nothing of Thistle

He transferred his last breathe for Marcille's body when fighting Winged Lion, so I guess he's long gone since then.
Especially when the Lion had eaten Thistle's crystalized desire to live.

He might not be revived like Falyn considering his... mental unstability. Just my guess tho

We saw Yaad feeding him soup on the surface, his body is alive and it reacts a little when he heard the word king, he's alive but is suffering like Mithrun. Whether he will make it or not is unknown.

This elf quickly figured out
the demon is evil and sealed it and held on for 1000 YEARS. Mithrun lasted for 5 years amd Marcille only days. The mad mage is mad but also got mad skills amd willpower.

Last we see of him is
Yaad trying to feed him after demon's defeat. It's implied he passed shortly after because the demon ate everything and he had no desire to live.

Now that the entire manga has been completed, I can answer this:

He's brought to the surface by Yaad in Delgal's body. (The head of Yaad's body got crushed by a falling rock, so he had to take Delgal's.) Laios visits the Golden Kingdom people near the start of the big feast to eat all of Falin's dragon body and Thistle finally wakes up at that time. He thinks that Yaad is Delgal and Yaad wisely pretends to be his father for Thistle's sake. He apologizes to Thistle for all the demands they put on him and thanks him for all he'd done. And then Thistle dies in his arms. It's actually a very sad scene, because by that point you realize that Thistle always meant well, but he got in over his head and the dungeon drove him mad.

With Thistle's death his hold over the dungeon ends and the Golden Kingdom starts rising from the sea. Turns out it wasn't an island, it was a continent.

I don't think that's entirely why I think it's because Yaad, who he thinks is Delgal, thanks him and basically tells him he's done enough. That's the point at which Thistle no longer has anything left to live for and dies. If Yaad/Delgal or the Golden Kingdom citizens had asked him to keep watch over him, he might have found the will to live, like Mithrun did.

That was my point.

He has absolutely nothing to live for anymore and passes away. Mithrun survived because he had his hatred and enough time had passed for him to form new connections before the demon died.

Thistle didn't have that.
