Someone once called me a “zako” on the pokemon showdown randbats ladder
I'm taking this as a canon diagnosis of autism in Lycoris. Hell yeah autistic anxious lesbian, fuck it up with your big ass sniper rifle.
I disagree with you on it being canon but agree with you on everything else. Fuck it all up Lycoris!

As someone who is autisitc, a "comminucation" disorder" might as well be autism, especially in this context since she has a hard rime reading the room and second guesses herself all the time. (Something I do daily.)

loved the translation and agree that in the western world we use autism as a way to diss communication disorders... but i believe it would have been even greater if you went all in and called her acoustic instead (^_^)

this is full speculation, I assume it has something to do with trauma as when she drank blood in game some memories popped up that were possibly suppressed. Some sort of traumatic event caused her to fully forget and change or not want to be one. (again speculation). The reason why she was put into that machine was to simulate everything so she could awaken and possibly remember. That is just my theory on the matter. A shame that even the raws are going a bit slow. T-T
I exactly wrote the same theory when we started to have chapters of this manga x)

I just feel like it’s a shame we know nothing a about the situation irl…

There are so many interesting things that could happened and we’re stucked with only a tiny part of a possible amazing story :/

It’s not bad but it could be so much more…

Insults? Usually i’m the one dishing them out, so best i can remember receiving is the chinese bog-standard insult “cao ni ma” (fuck your mom) and it’s abbreviation CNM due to the sheer amount of very salty chinese players in BF games.

Not a lot of english-based salting in SEA/east asia due to a lack of english fluency, and that people would rather shit-talk off mic or with their friend in the netcafe/discord.

In hindsight, after I remembered how she acts in the novel, I'm much more partial to agree with you.

You're not even a real robot-girlfriend-waifu...you're both analog and acoustic! [Dramatic gasps]

But yes, reasonable translations (translation itself meaning "to carry across [meaning]") with context notes are vastly superior to whatever political-agenda-charged rewrites "professional"* localizers are doing these days. And it's why I have a bookshelf of the Excel Saga manga with its pages of SFX translations and translator notes at the end of each volume.
*scare quotes intentional

tl;dr: Moar good translation, moar Crim. :glee:

Am I the only one wanting to know at least a bit more about what’s going on in Crim world irl?

As far as I know Information about the parents generation is more likely found in the W-novel "Worldgate Online" as DUO is somewhat of a sequel(?) to WO. (Novel updates called it shared universe) I didn't get far as the tone of the story is vastly different from what I expected.

I don't remember being insulted much. The only one I remember is one I just threw back, because the setup was so perfect. For the record, that was in World of Warships years ago, when they first added the torpedo reload boosters as a test, and they were generally considered as suicidal since you had to give up your smokescreen to slot them.
Idiot I sank: "What kind of idiot uses that loadout?"
Me: "The kind of idiot that outsmarted you."

Everything said and done, at least people who played with Lycoris were nice enough to put up a front and try to be polite. In real online games, it’s more often people just kick others they don’t like out of their party (and/or throw insults).
Sadly true. For the story I think this is better as well. If they're just assholes, most of the focus is going to be about how they acted against her. This way it's more about how her anxiety is a real flaw that causes problems for others as well, even if it's just a game. I'm not commending them for it, but at the same time you can't expect people to put up with random strangers who just don't fit the group.

yeah me too. I have read further along in the raws, coming out weekly from what I noticed, and they are still not talking about any of the IRL stuff still. :wtf:

also to add: I feel this just have the same problems a lot of manga like this face with pacing issues. The story isn't the main problem and just pacing and when to insert more story relating to the situation with the MC. Most of the chapters have dragged out one scene into multiple chapters, take the recent fight that is still getting translated. Takes roughly 15 or so chapters (don't know the exact amount meaning the entire scene as a whole of them entering and then finding the group, then finding the boss area/fighting it.) to finish this entire scene in itself. Reading further ahead the are trapped on the same arc as well and this is a side story to find a new member for their guild. I understand it takes a while, especially with life in the way, but I feel some of this could of been solved by combining more of the chapters into one coherent story/plot instead of breaking a lot of the fights into multiple chapters. There can still be the cliffhangers, but 3 or 4 chapters for ONE fight? 1 for them going into the area, 1 for them meeting the other people, and 2 or so for the fight would of been good. The next one could be them finishing the dungeon itself. Although not everything in the story is perfect and they do fall under them going the generic trope routes with the other guilds and the whole tournament as well. Overall the story both inside the game and outside I feel is quite decent, although the IRL story is overshadowing the game story. They just barely showed on of the IRL story which makes it feel super under cooked. edit: if you think about it they barely really did anything. Joins game, meets people, fight, leaves town, fight, meets friends, another quest with a long fight/ambush, go into town for even more fighting. Barely any story. THIS IS HIGHLY TONED DOWN as I do think there is a lot more than I mentioned but OVERALL and MC story about what is going on with him/his body and family, almost zero besides the implied part that he is a vampire and he swapped genders. And the fact he is forced into the game for 3 months isn't a problem as they could do jump cuts to reality like they did earlier hinting on his mother (which showed fangs on her implying she is a vampire)

Based off of what I've read of the novel spoiler discussions in previous chapter threads, it's not coming soon, but it IS coming.
yeah, I would assume it is coming after this whole tournament arc finishes. We still have to finish the boss section, them still somewhat traveling together, and then the tourney fights themselves and rewards/ending of it, and possible filler chapter, which compared to what is out is at least more than 20 or so chapters (honestly I assume even more than that too, so still way off) if what we have already is something to compare to. I love Crim SOOOOOOOO much honestly. He seems like a genuinely good guy/girl (at this point I would go with saying she as it seems even though he didn't know what is going on, it probably solidified the vampire awakening and sex change from that.) I am also EXTREMELY excited to finally meet his mom after that tease we got!
