The raws are only a little bit ahead of us, in what I believe are still the quarterfinals. We could try to go by the WN, but events have been HEAVILY overhauled between that and the manga, so it's hard to predict how much more will happen in the manga. For instance, not only was the ADT infiltration arc manga-exclusive, so was most of the Desert Merrow quest arc. In the web novel, Lycoris joins the guild along with Ryunnosuke and then goes on a one-chapter sidequest in the desert with Crim.

To keep things as spoiler-free as possible (and because I've only skimmed things, not read any of the volumes in their entirety): the PVP event is the main plot of volume 3 (the structure of the tournament seems to have been heavily overhauled, so it's hard to say WHERE in volume 3 we are, but I'd assume the beginning). School starts at the beginning of volume 4, and Crim has to attend remotely because he's still in the game. Adventures happen in-game that make up the volume's main plot, and then at the very end of the volume Kou finally gets out of the Cradle.

At the rate the manga has been progressing, it could still be a couple years until we reach that point.

Tbf you dont have to pick the special races and they all come with a big downside. Crim can barely go into high sunlight or they take damage and Lycoris cant learn any magic at all.

Some players wont care for the special races either since having a class that is more consistent, and would have more guides online for, is probably better for most players. Special races are more of a gimmick which is fun but could be super annoying too.

Also Frey is definitely in the wrong, the way it looks is he eventually gave up on being a rival to Crim and decided to put all his effort in a support role which can be seen in his current build. Wonder if he will eventually say he wants to have a serious duel and change up his build.

Log Horizon, for the most part. The Super Special Protagonist powers there are Overskills instead and they're at least a bit more organic.

SAO is also mostly innocent of this, for all the flak it gets. Dual Blades as a unique skill is relatively inoffensive compared to the stuff that's out there these days.

Most RL MMOs and tabletop RPGs unique races aren't that popular either because most players are humans who coincidentally likes to play as humans too, who would've guessed that

is still in the middle of Crim + the PKers vs Skyrunners and Ball Kicking Bnuuys.

Frey side just repelled Skyrunners' attempt at capturing the flag
while Crim side Hinagiku took a hit that was meant for Bianca (the backstabby bitch leader of the PKers) and said something to her before dying
that something 'hurt' enough that Bianca drop the trolling and decide to seriously try to win (the other PKers weren't that into this throwing the match trolling anyway)

Weeelll... PKers do exist... I don't know about the LN... But yeah, definitely chapters explicitly titled "Player Killer<s>" in the WN. I'd have to go back and check to see if the specific arc happened, or the one with Lycoris, though.

Reasonably sure they don't want to end the manga before that reveal, considering... But we'll see. I've seen Blunt Type Oni get the ax before any big reveal times (and Blunt Type Oni's really fucking good), and I don't have any hope for Nostalgia World Online getting to "Proof that you can make a tournament arc good", much less its reveal.

I really want it to, though, because it's a great moment.
