I know we have multi case reveals such as the Halloween party into Vermouth showdown, but this is straight up another unrelated case perhaps setting up for a showdown but the tone is off.

Also considering under 1 year has happened in-universe, the murder rate in Conan already accounts for all murders in Japan. Having two back to back really makes it look more like America.

Yup these are just the seeds of tension for an upcoming BO conflict, maybe by chapter 1200 we will have Rum confrontation

I just hope that after this case, there will be immediate story/showdown with BO. Not some cliche romance progression, unless Heiji telling a story that he got laid . Or else this manga wont ever be finished.

It's been a long time but I seem to remember that I once read a post from someone who had done the math and said that Conan has encountered more murders than the entirety of the Detroit police department does in a whole year.
