Reminds me of The Sirens of Titan, the Kurt Vonnegut novel.
It turns out that humanity has been manipulated remotely by aliens in order to help one of their own stranded on Titan (one of Saturn's moons), after its spaceship breaks down there. Literally all of human history was controlled in order to get a little banged-up strip of metal the main character's son carried around as a good-luck charm, which is the part necessary to repair the spaceship. This all happens because the aliens are carrying a message out into the universe, which is, in its entirety: "Hello."
I feel like The Sirens of Titan still wins in terms of alien-human history nihilism, but this manga comes surprisingly close. Makes me wonder if this series' author has read it.
