Okay, here's why it's a bad idea to buy slaves and then free them, guys.
Businesses run off of profit and are incentivized by it. If a business notices something is economically doing well, it encourages more of that activity. Additionally, businesses expand as more and more profit is earned to keep itself afloat and to provide its service to more and more people. So buying slaves and then freeing them is a bad idea if you want to free slaves in the long term, because it not only increases the demand for slaves, therefore causing businesses to go out and catch more/breed more to increase the supply or causing the price of slaves to increase and meaning you can free less of them. Essentially, you're playing into the system you oppose for short-term gratification and it is not a viable long term strategy to end slavery as it will only perpetuate it as the slavers gain more and more profit.
