Gosh, I am so happy to see this kind of slow realization with adult characters. I know a lot of people in there 20's who get caught in the exact same loops of trying to find someone while hating themselves, and it just feels so real. Also, the way that she doesn't recognize the feeling right away, but still gets that panic when you genuinely care about how someone else sees you, is just such a core part of that realization that "damn, I really do like this person."
