I'm honestly not at all surprised we got a bit of drama before they kiss.
The climax of a story should in most cases never come before the "aha" moment where the character(s) understand their fear/misbelief and as a result change as a person. And well, since Yuzu's inner turmoil hasn't been revolved yet, a genuine kiss/confession here would've been very out of place.
Now, to be clear, I do understand where y'all are coming from. I absolutely would've preferred it if Yuzu's insecurities were adressed without a sort of fakeout rejection, and it's kind of annoying we got another cliffhanger. But honestly, this is still way better than if they just got together here without issue.
