well yeah, if this were at all a realistic situation Yuito should move two prefectures over, change his surname and dye his hair, and maybe become a monk for good measure while disavowing everyone including his mom (because she's either ignorant of her younger son's complex and subsequent depression, or just doesn't care, though we have nowhere near enough screentime with her to know what the truth is).

If you're asking for spoilers, then after perusing the WN because I need to know how bad this gets, I have found that it actually happens in ch 30, which event-wise might be around 3-5 chapters from this point in the manga, depending on how truncated the sequence of events following this meetup go. And, true to form, he's so convinced that he's a pile of unworthiness compared to his brother that he's dumbfounded by her direct confession to him.

It's quite evident people on this site have never had a crush before. I understand why the male lead is so distressed. I'm surprised though at Kano-San, despite her gyaru looks she has complete control over the situation. She knows exactly what she is doing, forcing Yuito to confront the hard truth while also providing herself as the better alternative. She's shrewd.

I mostly feel sorry for the little sister, because she's oblivious to the fact that MC likes her (because she only has eyes for his brother) and that the brother doesn't actually care about her (because he only has eyes her sister). But she's apparently also kinda just simple-brained at least according to the chapters of the WN that have been covered by the manga thus far.

The MC's a stupid idiot but that's just because he suffers from Male RomCom Protagonist Syndrome, and the brother's astupid idiot who comes off like the aggressive & domineering bad guy because the MC's scared of him because "he's so high-spec compared to me" & the MC's crush happens to like him, but is also just uselessly pining for the one girl in the entire setting who isn't lusting after him.

Kano's probably the most at-fault because even though she likes the MC she refuses to come out and say it, making her just as immature as the others who are all at least a couple years younger than her, but....the brother can't take the hint that she doesn't like him, and I guess she lowkey hates her sister because the MC is hung up on her, even though Kano feels terrible for feeling that way about her sister - according to the WN anyway.

But otherwise this is one of the sillier premises for a love quadrangle I've seen in recent times, agreed.

Of course that won't happen (at least for a good while yet), because Yuito is, of course, a RomCom Male Protagonist with the double whammy of an unrequited childhood friend crush and an inferiority complex over his brother that is exacerbated by even his few friends.

But, hopefully eventually Yuito will understand that Kano is the superior choice.
