Her lack of ambition is getting on my nerves. She doesn't want to be queen. She'd rather not be alone with the prince because it makes other students jealous. She dislikes having excessive decorations on her sword. She doesn't want to win the tournament. She hates the idea of becoming a hero... I thought the "I-just-want-a-peaceful(read: boring)-life" is a disease that only affected members of the male sex, but it seems females haven't been spared either. I understand the "don't-stand-out" school of thought, but with an indestructible body, exerting this much caution is unjustified. As we've just seen, it's not effective, she can inadvertently injure people even while being as discreet as possible.

Why would you let a bunch of kids fight each other with real swords instead of wooden ones or something.

its not a great sword at all
i made a mold

well no shit the sword was ass you cant pour a god damn sword
You totally can. Just because medieval blacksmiths could not melt iron, doesn't mean it's not a valid way to make weapons out of fantasy metals.
Of course, as a dwarven blacksmith, I'm sure she knew of many ways to improve on that. Like tempering, and sharpening and adding various additions. Just not the right way to do it with a sword made of jewelry-grade metal that is not normally used for weapons.

Oh yeah sure you can pour a sword like chinese plastic but the grain is gonna be shit unless you work the entire thing over and at that point you might as well just form it from a bar
Also she said that the sword was supposedly finished the second it was popped out of the mold and thats just silly

Working swords with a hammer is a way to deal with impurities caused by bad metallurgy. The correct crystal structure is obtained by tempering.

I feel sorry for the Prince - Mary's underhanded and secretive ways are all leading to a point where he gets his junk smashed to mush on his wedding night!
