First: I want to thank the Arabic group translating this for access to the colored pages at the end of the chapter with character art! Thank you!

Second: We will be seeing Maam soon (relatively speaking; like 10 chapters from now). How would you all like to see her name? Maam? Marm? I'm inclined for Maam.

Third, I suspect that this is where the series would have ended if it weren't so popular. Instead of having a new villain appear, there would have been a proper epilogue conclusion.

Fourth: Reminder I'll be discontinuing redrawing SFX in Volume 13 so we can have weekly releases until current.

Fifth: Perhaps most important, I am sorry for everyone who was hoping the shadowy figure was the GOAT. It was not the GOAT... it was just a leopard furry.

Sixth: Stupid hair.

It's really exciting that all the content from now on will be more or less "original" and nothing ever mentioned or implied or talked about in the OG manga. Not knowing what'll more or less happen with the gaps filled is like until now makes for an interesting picture, and with how high quality everything has been, I'm sure it won't feel out of place or too "fanfic-y" too.

Thank you for working so hard until this "first ending". Looking forward to the rest.

Thanks! I do it for the fans. There's DOZENS OF US! lol.

I have a subscription to V-Jump so I get to see it as it comes out... and I can't wait until we're closer to current. It's killing me to know what happens next and NOT be able to talk about it with other fans.

Maam is the official here too so that.
End of arc one, and what will likely get adapted into the first stretch of the anime whenever they decide to eventually do it XD.

Artist must be elated after going from Zipperman falling through to being on a project like this! Amazing job as well.

Agreed! I absolutely love his style. There's definitely nostalgia in the original style, but this new style just looks so sleek, modern, detailed and beautiful. The characters are so much more expressive because of the extra detail, and the fight scenes are just so incredibly superb. I've definitely grown an appreciation for the art from all the redrawing lol.

As one of the believers, I'm baffled at this development, though I wonder if he's involved in the creation of these weapons.

Also, best outfit and hairstyle are back. This is the Avan I've known since childhood :glee:

I would have to go back and check, but I believe by the end of the next issue, or the issue after that perhaps, we will know a bit more about who these people are, where these weapons come from, and what their objective is.

I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for working on this.

I felt chills seeing Dai again even in an extra comic.
I know! I was so excited to see them. I absolutely love how Hyunckel plots to purchase every single issue of vjump to stop them from seeing his tragic past.

I reread a little early Dai and it’s really funny to compare the two. Hadlar is such an ugly bum in it, the scene where he mentions asking Avan to become his servant has a completely different vibe and Hadlar himself is far more serious and handsome. Likewise his ghost form has the same kind of ”cool aura” as late game Hadlar, while early Dai Hadlar looks like a Hokuto no Ken grunt who fused with a goblin.

My point being, I‘d really love to see the manga attempt to ”update” further earlier content of the og manga. It already did it to some degree after all.

In general, the story has also had the fundamental issue of powerlevel: the whole Avan story is like og DB, powercreep happens and Dai already scares shitless a powered up Hadlar, but unlike og DB it’s just shown through very short flashbacks that weren’t given top much thoughts. The prequel has been doing a very nice job at giving a convincing powerscaling but it’s also hard to forget that Hadlar will get multiple powerups and get humiliated by younger kids after that, even if Dai is fundamentally special. So I do wonder if the prequel will further attempts to ”tweak“ general consistency. From what I’ve understood for example, the prequel already sets up the fact that Hadlar wasn’t always a slimy bum and rather got worse, to give some basis on how he jumps back and beyond to his endgame personality.

Also it’s really nice to hear the manga is popular: also means an anime has some pretty good chances of happening!
