Maybe it's just me but compared to the first chapter of Gintama, the narration here is less subtle, due to Shinpachi (straight man) being the narrator, while in Drama Queen the roles are not that clear yet.

How can you call it xenophobic when they have a legitimate reason to hate them? An alien killed his family and got off scot-free, its entirely reasonable for him to hate them. I like a based manga as much as the next guy, but so far this all seems pretty tame and not really worth a fuss over yet.

Just because their opinions are different doesn't mean they are westerners.
“If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck”.

Only Westerners would throw around words like "fascist", "bigot", "racist", "xenophobic", "oppressed", etc like they're nothing. Also, if someone's interpretation of the first chapter is that of "anti-immigration", then there's a big-fat chance they're a Western Liberal.

Since @Angry_Panda asked for... at first I was surprised this shonen wasn't about human farming and rapey-rape, so I put it on the "generic trash manga" skip but at the end I saw some squid/meat eating so I guess this won't be pure edginess? It was boring nevertheless so it won't change my mind, eww, it's shonen manga after all.

Holy shit. Tumblr on life support. Saw this mentioned on Twitter and the usual suspects are already having the best kind of freakouts about the mere existence of this manga.
They're gonna move on to some new outrage bait within the month, and so will the people using it for bait.

In the meantime, I'll bear witness to this being (mostly) inexplicably used as a culture war football.

Japan seems to be entering the same migrant crisis going on in the West, so I'm not surprised something like this cropped up. It remains to be seen if this is a critique of right-wing beliefs or an endorsement.
The protagonists eat an alien corpse to dispose of it.

The girl says it tastes like squid.

How can you call it xenophobic when they have a legitimate reason to hate them? An alien killed his family and got off scot-free, its entirely reasonable for him to hate them.
That's still xenophobic, and it's still him prejudging an entire population based on the actions of a few of them. It's just sympathetic xenophobia, especially when we haven't gotten a positive representation of aliens beyond their salvation of the earth-- the veracity of which is expressly scrutinized.

It'll probably be justified xenophobia if it turns out the aliens did stage the disaster they saved the earth from.

Says something stupid
Someone responds
'You fell for bait dude it's bait'
Holy fucking shit you're not real
The way to look at it, is that the baiter is dragging you into the mud alongside him. It's not that you're "responding to something stupid", it's that you're responding to something stupid enough that it's not worth responding to.
