Not really. It's usually Whites who occupy high positions in Japanese companies. The entire plot point of the drunk driver mirrors the numerous incidents of US Marines in Japan Drink Driving and causing accidents and even deaths and getting off with no or minor sentences. The "saving" of Earth and giving advanced Tech mirror the United States occupation and development of Japan in the Post-War period. The MVP of the NPB in the manga is an Alien (while several foreign nations play Baseball, it's most likely a reference to an American Baseball player)

Indians and Chinese are DEFINETELY not glamorized and in Japanese society like the Manga shows the Aliens are. Nor can they get away with speaking their own language in Japan like an English speaker can.

there's something almost schizophrenic in the way only the MCs are repeatedly punched by the aliens. No one else is shown to experience this and are confused when its pointed out even though the MCs are bruised and bleeding. The car crash in reverse is also so strange.

You see Kitami get hit clearly in the Chapter though.

How is the alien boss glamorized? Dude is sweating it out in a sweatshop because he is too cheap to run the AC. He beats his workers who talk back. That is 100% a stereotype of Chinese and Indian bosses. Ain't no American going to work without AC and have the balls to beat an employee.

I've known Chinese and especially Indians that have told me stories of abuse they have been subjected to or have witnessed. Hell, even Indian PhD grad students had hands put on them for not getting expected experimental results from an Indian PI (stopped by an American grad student btw). It's a stereotype for a reason.

Soften your Reddit hate boner for Americans and Westerners for just a minute and actually read the Manga. Author is ripping on all immigrant bad behavior.

Ah yes, Chinese and Indians are the only know races in the history of mankind that harass their workers, brilliant, all other countries have no harrasment claims or any abuse from bosses. Non-existent.

Even Japan has a terrible work culture, people often complain about their bosses and how much they are made to work. Workers often need to go on overtime because of work pressure. It's common knowledge, look it up, there are so many articles about it, even manga in the subject.

Immigrants are poorly received everywhere, unlike the aliens. In the US they recently claimed immigrants were eating DOGS, while that was proven to be completely false. In Japan it's the same, there are many videos of people living there telling their life experience of some form of prejudice. Even if you go legally, people still prefer to hire a local than an immigrant. But yeah, companies do hire immigrants when they want to pay criminally low wages and get more profit.

This comment section is insane, people calling it "based" is scary to say the least, and others saying it's about immigration?? I thought it was a great manga about colonialism, that in Japan came in the form of US occupation after the war. It is a bit problematic hearing this from a work from Japan, known historically to be the most hostile country in Asia that colonised so many countries there. It's not a deal breaker, so far at least, and I want to see how it develops the story.

Did I say that ONLY Chinese and Indians harass their workers? Did I say it was a race thing like its somehow part of their DNA? I'm saying that based on secondhand knowledge there is some of that going on those countries and cultures and some of it has spilt over to Japan. From the Japanese perspective that's certainly not something they want to import. They already have enough homegrown "black" companies to deal with.

It is 100% about the issues of immigration from all places including America. It's a perspective over in east Asia that westerners get treated better in many Asian countries than natives and there is probably some truth to it. Modern day Japanese got fuckall to do with the sins of their great-grandparents. Certainly they have every right to complain about their elites putting foreigners on pedestals over their own citizens. Lord knows there is plenty of that going on right now.

Japan was also colonized and harassed multiple times in their existence. History doesn't start and end with WWII. Every group and country has some baggage and if not they haven't been around long enough to be judged in hindsight by armchair historians for something they though was "on the right side of history" at the time. Hell we have people who still think communism is a good idea regardless of the mountain of corpses that ideology has left in its wake. We condemn those that deny the Holocaust but try not getting banned on Bluesky for mentioning that they used to eat their kids in Soviet Ukraine.
