You know exactly what I mean. Americans reading "alien" assumed it was an allegory for their problem with immigrants, they always think it's all about them. Like the time a Pokémon came out that was based on a detective and they thought it was Trump because of the shape of his head and he was fighting some ratattas that were stealing food from Alola.

yup
nothing speaks colonial mentality when they think every story is about their issues or just them in particular
to the westerners reading this:
here's the reality westerners
people meme on the loud minority of you on twitter who say they're progressive or whatever bullshit word you like to make up to think you're a good person when you're part of the small but growing western group that's not,
complaining about everything wanting people to adjust to you, life isn't about you, or your issues or your country.
most of the time people write fiction because its fiction
you can come up with whatever bullshit you want saying this is racist, xenophobic or whatever when it isn't but you do you
we get it
some of you
are just
dumb
and that's perfectly fine
but at least remember
a lot of people
aren't
and people know what's a fictional setting
if you wanna solve problems like xenophobia, racism and what not
get your asses out there, do something, look into charities or volunteer Non-Government orgs that actually do change and help people and volunteer there, raging at a manga in the comments section of a manga site won't get you there
and don't tell me "but i don't have the time to do that i barely have time for myself" if the people who were able to remove things like slavery said that, there'd still be literal slavery in the west right now, make time, you had time to hate on a manga that isn't even about you, your country or your issues
actually do the change you wanna see in the world, move your ass
