I must say, I don't give a shit about Namamoto. They assesinated her character which honestly only lasted for the first 2-3 chapters. I was just thinking I like this manga enough so I'd buy some figures, but at the same time they don't have a single character I'd like to own as figure. I think Backbone and Bombs-Guy are the two best characters right now. Oh and Soyo, she's bae.

Lilly torturing Odori and leaving no scarrs, no grape, nothing, is kinda lame. The one chapter we thought she was dead I thought the author had massive balls but it's been reduced to what...? She got kicked around a little bit?

I imagine it might be similar to how the natives of the Americas felt when ship after ship of Europeans started coming over.
I enjoy your comparison!

Imagine an alt-history method backport:

The Polish take over the natives huge bureacratic government and ship in endless Europeans on Polish boats. All with boat and food and housing paid for by the natives tax collected pelts, beads, and clamshells.

And the natives just sit around and do nothing all day except spectating the Europeans doing their Powwows, cheering for the French team to beat the Germans.

Is. This. FOR. REAL!?

ALL THAT SETUP IS JUST TO BE... what, ANTI-CLIMACTIC with TERRAFORMOUS TIME SKIP!?
From eating aliens, killing aliens, to personal grudge, and now suddenly... THIS!?

Okay I'm actually offended by this storyline, like WHAT WAS THE POINT!
We go through discrimination, then eating aliens, then alien mafioso, then personal vendettas, and after all that anticlimax... BAM, sudden TIMESKIP AND VIRAL TERRAFORMING with zero buildup?!

FOR REAL?!

And this whole intergalactic naturalization thing... there was literally NO mention of any virus until Nomamoto EATS THE ALIEN. Then all of a sudden Bone gets infected and it spreads like a wildfire. Even Seiran was with her longer time before Bone, and he didn't get the virus! Why didn't Seiran get it!?
Wait, so... IS THIS ALL NOMAMOTO'S FAULT!? Is Nomamoto the ALIEN VIRUS CATALYST just because SHE CAN EAT ALIENS!?

I'm genuinely offended because I thought I was finally getting a handle on where this was going, BUT NOPE! COMPLETE 180!
The Author's not even cooking! He burnt it and threw away the cooking right away with the timeskip button with any remaining ingredients in the burnt pan!

I'M SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW OVER SOME NONSENSICAL PLOT MANGA!

Seiran about to be reunited with his waifu <3

Oh we getting something like the aztecs going extinct cause they got sick from spanish diseases.
I imagine it might be similar to how the natives of the Americas felt when ship after ship of Europeans started coming over.
A few corrections:

The Aztecs continued for a long time after Cortez, just without their religion. In fact, after the Spanish killed Moctezuma II, the very first thing the Aztec nobility did was sign up with the Spanish to go south and raid the Maya (or rather what was left of the Maya, their civilization having collapsed about 180 years before the Spanish arrived, and then having a second collapse again not too long before)
The Aztecs did such a good job at being warriors for the Spanish, Queen Isabella made Moctezuma's grandson a Spanish Duke as a reward, a peerage still held by his descendants.

European diseases also had much less immediately devastating effect and more of an affect on birthrates. A century after the Spanish arrived, the population had only declined about 5%.

I am going to try to compress this very hard:
There are two types of smallpox, a "long" smallpox and a "short" one. The new world only got "long" small pox until the 1800s because anyone with "short" small pox would not have survived the trip over the atlantic until the invention of steam. Short small pox is the rather lethal strain.

Long smallpox, with care, has very high odds of survival, about the same as the flu - you will have the pox pustules and be extremely fatigued for about two weeks, and then the vast majority of people recover. The issue is "with care"; the problem is those two weeks and how virulent it is - that is, how fast it spreads and how likely it is you'll catch it. If everyone in a village catches long small pox at the same time, that means no one is there to care for anyone. No one is able to draw water or gather/cook food, and people die of hunger/thirst. There was no running water and EasyMac in the 1500s.

Spanish Flu in the 1910's was only about 5% lethality rate, but in areas heavily hit by the flu you saw populations decline by upto 20% - that delta is the number of people who died due daily life completely collapsing for two weeks.

So in remote Indian villages, were small pox spreads rapidly, everyone would get sick and due to the lack of stored food, people would might survive died instead. This had a knock over effect of the sick who could make it to the Spanish missions often survived because people were there to care for them until the symptoms passed. Thus more indians moved to the missions and well... they were worked like slaves and birthrates declined, so that by the 1700s the native population outside of Spanish cities and missions had collapsed drastically.

Another interesting note is that the Spanish court was aware of the decline of native population due to disease and mistreatment in the 1600s, and attempted everything they could think of to try to stop it and raise birthrates in New Spain.
This was because the native population was their workforce and without indians to work the plantations an mines, Spain's economy was suffering.

Anyway, tl;dr is that you have been lied to in school. European diseases did not cause a mass die-off, it caused a moderate reduction in birthrates that took centuries to reduce the native populations.

The way I see it this whole introducing disease and creates power imbalance serves as a way to continue the plot. As it stands now Seiran has no reason to kill aliens now that the truth behind Soyo's incident is revealed to him. The manga basically pushed the motive to kill the aliens from selfish revenge to solves the power imbalance and investigate the origin of the disease.

Also I find it fascinating that this manga somehow brainwash the characters (in verse) and the readers (out verse) that killing aliens is simply the only solution exist.

Nomamoto is 100% the patient zero of this new disease. i'd be surprised if she didn't get locked up and experimented with
bet the plot twist is that the virus came to be when she ingested alien meat or something and it's like the sin caused by their hatred or some corny shit. Bombs guy needs to save this story with a huge ass bomb to blow up lond--senoo city

I do think the Tim skip is abrupt but I assume it's cause we're following Serían and he got his head blasted by a space gun so I guess that's fair.

I don't actually understand what everyone is expecting from a plot about alien species colonizing earth and the questionable moral of wanting to get rid of them :nyoron: Anticlimactic? Story still going. What do you want alien genocide without question or backstories?

Also for the record never liked the aliens to begin with kill them all day 1. I will say speaking of, I do think it's interesting that everyone hates these characters but I never saw anyone questioned if them killing aliens was justified or anyone saying they'd be rooting against them. So we hate them but what they are doing is still good? :thonk: it could be tho that they don't care but then why are you still reading Alien
