I don't want to reread the whole singularity fight right now but at the very least she was doing something cult-y with somebody at the beginning of chapter 70, so yes, she's definitely lying.

However, way back at the end of the first arc after Akira first whooped her ass in his hometown (chapter 10), Karamiez encountered Aria, who scared her shitless and told her that Akira is under her protection. I don't think she's dumb enough to try and harm Akira after that, so chances are this is less about him (though I'm sure she wants to better understand his power) and more about Medis.

What can Akira actually do to her? She's employed by the most famous academy of Pansylvania. If Akira attacked her, Pansylvania would kick them all out of the country, making them lose the opportunity to try to stude the red potion situation. If he killed her, Pansylvania might use the opportunity to have him executed in retaliation. Pansylvania has little respect for Stromheim, so I doubt they would be overly worried about repercussions. They would probably judge the consequences quite tolerable in comparison to Stromheim losing the strongest summoner in the world. While Akira is next to helpess alone, if he's protected by competent fighters, he does turn extremely dangerous.

I guess the only question mark would be the Pansylvania king's obsession with Akira's father.
