if you want a spoiler: The answer is both, I forget what exactly does it (whether akira saved her or not), but Katya survives, but stays at risk at becoming oder. so she's still around, just not as active.

ch.71 has them get split up while dragon lady was flying them to their destination. they shouldn't be that far away from each other honestly, but akira was also in combat after landing, so some delay is expected (that plus "speed fo light slashes" means combat's timeframe is funky to think of)

I suppose this would serve as justification for why Akira would try to cure the Oder infection. He's kind of a passive guy who doesn't want to do much normally, so without a reason like wanting to save someone important (to him personally), he simply might not even try, just sticking to the common belief that it's impossible.

I wanna say thank you to Cold for punching Medisfina. Never liked her since she grew up. She has been deceiving, lying, and breaking her promises to Akira. Thinks that she can solve all the problems and drags her people into the most dangerous situations, and when those people are trying to get her into safety, she still refuses and decides to be stubborn even tho her presence only makes the situation worse. She needs to open her eyes and grow up or die off so that MC can move on.
