quotation marks are indicating direct speech, but the words here are already in speech bubbles.
so unless a character quotes another character's words or brings up a title or uses irony/sarcasm/skepticism, i think you could just leave them out.

i see, aways do mass uploads for manga with low to medium traffic. as for popular manga, they don't do mass uploads. well, this is happen after asmodeus got banned from Mangadex & new rule mangadex (maybe)

Hi everyone this is Skott from KDT scans! Earlier today beachbear reached out to me expressing that he wanted to take over scanlation of this series. Since we had not touched it in several months I figured it would be good to support a new scanlator looking to get into the hobby. If he does decide to drop the series we will pick it back up. When you use quotation-marks like this in a manga, it makes it seem like it is meant to showcase to the readers that it is meant to be read as them just saying lines they don't really mean, for the form of it. Like 2 bitter rivals intending to kill each other pretending to be friendly right before their fight starts (or even unfriendly, but they dont care about the words and just want to start fighting).

there's been an uptick in "beginners" with credit pages covered with GenAI content and over-reliance on chatgpt and machine translators.

was one thing when bear 1day-sniped another title but now bear seems to be trying to flood a variety of different series.

and instead of seeing a quality improvement, now we get poorly placed per-page watermarking and incredibly awkward translations and typesetting.

I like a lot of these series but going through that over and over is making me just drop series entirely instead.

Yeah, that’s fair on me ill be honest, and I want to apologize.

I’m still pretty new to scanlating and wasn’t fully aware of all the etiquette at first. When I realized I’d accidentally stepped on another team’s work, I reached out to them, apologized, and pulled everything back right away. (Thankfully they forgave me and taught me some things)


I did use AI for credit pages and some light proofreading, which clearly wasn’t handled as well as it should’ve been. So I understand where your coming from. From here on out, I’ll be personally going over translations, grammar, and typesetting to make sure things are cleaner and more readable like I should have been.

The watermarking was also on me I didn’t really know what I was doing at the time I was like a headless chicken, but I’ve learned how to place and pace them as to not make it unreadable or blocking words in anyway.

Sorry again if the quality wasn’t up to expectations. I genuinely like these series and I’m putting in the work to improve so future releases are better.

The scanlator was kind enough to talk with us and ask permission prior to beginning work. We we happy to let them take it over and support anyone who wants to get into the scanlation hobby. If they ever decide it's too much for them we'll gladly go back to maintaining the series from wherever they leave off.
