That might actually be a cool ending. Al becomes a big enough threat that the sword and armor have to re-pick wielders, both choosing Blum this time. They manage to bullshit the items into either destroying themselves, or thinking that Al is dead long enough for them to go dormant, letting Blum get rid of them both.
Too bad that probably isn't the ending
