are they controversial in terms of how many feathers therpod dinosaurs had? Because they absolutely did, for the most part.

All the other WhatTheFuck-ery aside, I do kind of appreciate the twist of how he was excited about his "buying a slave girl and getting her to like me" quest/goal/thingy out of his Book, and then the Hero shows up after he's been incarcerated for ....yeah, and she's like "I'll take this prisoner as my first adventuring companion!"

A neat little twist on the trope, as it were.

Plus, Dinosaur People is criminally under-utilized design space and we need more of it in fantasy manga.
