it was written as "race" in the book, so I didn't change it, especially since it doesn't have much sense to change it as "specie":
-humans and elves can have an offspring so they should be in the same specie
-humans and beastmen can have an offspring so they should be in the same specie
-elves and beastmen can't have an offspring so they shouldn't be in the same specie
that make things complicated
amazons are one of the 5 demi-humans "races" along side with elves, dwarves, beastmen and prum.
after that, I don't know how further division works for the author, like the differences between different beastmen, or the difference between elves and dark elves

I guess all three faction are on this and "cooperate". I believe Njord's and Murdock's familia are blackmailed. Njord by the guild and it feels like Murdock by someone from the outside. Only the Guild is fully into this. Njord wants to keep his familia well of and the guild made it so, that it would be ruined. Murdock feels sympathy for them and any other boatsman and provides them with the monster repellent out of bad consciousness.
You might think the less people are involved the better, but in this case it's the opposite. All three factions are influential enough to notice something is up and tell others about it, so they all had to be dealt with.
I also guess there is an entrance to the dungeon somewhere in the near of the Leviathan seal. Somebody (kali familia?) bore a hole sideways+far away enough from the seal and bypasses it. The sisters should have checked where that viola came from instead of following it. The Kali familia's secret to the growth is the battle against those creatures and importing them. (Or they created them themselves and are there origin used by the Evilus followers.) That explains why they are there. Either to grow and make use of the entrance or to investigate how their own creatures keep turning up there.
