@SilentCrucifixionJewel Ah, they were men. I was almost sure this hero had an all female party. A bit surprised the charm-using hero surrounded himself with men aside from only one charmed girl (healer and later other healer).
So if the spoilers are true then I will wait for chapter 8, also she's unlucky rather than low self-esteem that charm or whatever the douche hero made to her perception mess her up, I would like it if Kaido does something about that though.
Chapter 7's raw was super painful to look at. Especially when Carol was crying at the end of that chapter with being forced to leave Kaido for that jerk hero! ;_;

@Raidou94 : Not fake the raw link is there in the main page so you can check on it :v ...it's making me want to dig up the WN and check how this'll go.
That said, (also to @feha )
Based on the fact that the other healer is a spirit user and seem to hate the party + Carol's mention of spirit users in this chapter
I think those with spirit's protections are immune to the charm effect.
So this just mean Kaido have to give her a spirit's protection somehow.
I'm hoping for a kiss and a ring...
someone here spoiling the raw of ch 7... so i was curious and take a peek a bit...
turnout the hero is an ass.. im gonna back to this series if that hero die or maybe wait 5 more chapter after ch 7
from what i know, the yonkou use his wit to save carol and freed her from the chart
Theres also the issue that the hero actually charmed the whole town
Then she act as witness and give testimony to send the hero into jail
Dunno bout the detail, but thats what i understand from the pixiv dictionary
Oh and theres a reason why carol is so dem good with medicine, but ill stop here
@LordTeddington Wisdom's not her dumpstat. Medicine is typically based off that and presumably her search skill would ahs well, these things just have cheats against such skills. Charisma on the other hand... her confidence and persuasion seem weak as hell.
@Psychronia what do you mean by same thing? Cause one is doing it naturally while the other has a cheat skill to sweep her off her feet.
isn't the reason she is so good the person who taught her, whose credentials were revealed this chapter???
@Kazedoom : high level (potentially state secret level) magic could explain it as well as why it was not spread, and the title he held would indicate access to high level stuff, but not explain holding back revolutionary ideas. Actually the title makes me wonder if Carol might be a (minor) noble...
the "hero" is not on the character illustration page for volume 3, but is for vol 2 (however his toadies are not). Though based on my reading of the prologue to vol 2 MTL (alphapolis leaves so much non-paywalled, likely as a teaser) it appears he is already permanently separated from her, and possibly in trouble with the law/guild.
@icarushector
True, but she doesn't know that it was a piece of shit taking advantage of her the first time around. So as far as she's aware, the same thing happened both times and Kaido is just "mysteriously more warm" this time. I would still consider it poor decision-making, even if the decision itself wasn't wrong.
It's like if you agree to start up a risky business when a stranger (or vague acquaintance) asks you to join them on the venture, only to be saddled with a ton of debt and bankrupt while your supposed partner bails out. And when you finally bail yourself out of all the problems you were left with, another stranger comes and makes the exact same offer.
Jumping right back in just isn't really a good or responsible idea, regardless of the difference circumstances you don't know about. In this metaphor, you ran the business super lucratively the first time around and you only went under because your partner was embezzling money.
And the key point here is that this poor girl is still kinda emotionally dependent on the man, which means not much has changed with how she approaches the situation-just how her environment treats her. Granted, she's been conditioned this way for 2 and a half years, but she's constantly thinking about how to please Kaido instead of a proper equal relationship.
@Psychronia that is an excellent analysis of the situation. She's very lucky, then again, so is Kaido. He'd be dead after all without her.
@Riger because he's a dumbass who never listened to her good info or let her do anything other than make pills that would eventually make the party weaker, and when the effectiveness of what she provided (or rather what he took from her) went down she was no longer useful in his opinion.
@Riger@icarushector : The "Hero" is a self centered idiot, who did not see her as a person but as a tool. He ignored all her advice even though she as the only one who knew allot of things (chapter 1 of the web novel has been translated, she had a very good reason for not wanting to go on the route the party wanted to take, it involve the mountain apes she mentions this chapter and 1 extra fact about them
At that point of the year they were actively hunting food for the winter so the chances of being ambushed by a large group or 10 is almost 100%
, there are a couple other examples in the flashbacks we have seen), treated her as the help instead of as companion (in one flashback she is carrying all the luggage, and he uses charm to get her to keep up, instead of spreading it around the party), and never gave her credit or compensation for her contribution (otherwise she would be the same rank as everyone).
A spell casting/magic healer is more valuable in general then a pharmacist (and higher rank then they were for a competent one), and that is exactly what he replaced her with once they hit the needed rank. But after 2 years of abuse and putting her down the party is forgetting she is not a general pharmacist, and they have not done their research on what a normal healer or pharmacist can do. The kidnapped her because they could not get a proper healer. She was always supposed to be a stepping stone until they got a proper healer. They abused her abilities well beyond what others could provide, or is safe to use, and no longer realize how valuable/exceptional she is due to believing their own lies, and she cold not complain properly due to the charm magic.
My guess is none of the party had the skill, talent or intellect to reach higher ranks or understand how a proper party fights or functions. But depended on her to much and think everything was their own accomplishments, as opposed to the results of depending on performance enhancing drugs. This belief being reinforced by 2 year of abusing her leading to them believing their own hype.
Thx for your explanation @sjmcc13
Can you share us the source for the wn translation?
Actually, i want to read the wn raw, but im not sure where i can find it
