Nah, cause your entire career only ever taught you how to make money off of others. If there wasn't a system that rewarded folks like you, everything would be faster and everyone would want to be smarter and get positions that reward their level of training and skill. Shove that corporate degree up your ass and learn something useful for the field that you profit off of, then you can say someone else's work is shit when you can make tweaks and improvements and a better product.

If there's one complaint I have it's that they aren't getting into the details of how this guy runsRuins companies. We see him being a jerk, being shortsighted, mismanaging staff... but not his overall strategy. I'm not sure if he thinks the company will actually run well under his austerity, or if he knows it's going to fail after he strips it for parts. Makes him seem like a greedy idiot instead of a competent vulture.

This guy is just too comically evil for me to really feel engaged for, but I understand his role as a villain in this story.

Its just. I can’t ever think of this kind of higher-up guy ever thinking this way. Let alone obsess over a employee they fired. Guys like this always jump ship. Never take accountability. Never acknowledge it. Gone with the wind. As fast as they can with a tesla they bought with everyone else’s blood sweat and tears.

He said what his strategy is several times this chapter: use up, fire, and replace. He sees employees as consumables that can be forced to work overtime and abused to their limits, and once they're exhausted, he just blames them for everything, fires them, and replaces them with fresh meat to repeat the process. In this way, he has maximized the profits of every company he's restructured so far because all his previous companies like most companies IRL have kept things modular so that no one employee has the leverage to make or break their work and everyone is replaceable.

The only reason this strategy is falling apart while he's still here and not long after he's left is because Satou single handedly did the work of a whole team of people via automation, and he mistakenly thought she was already used up so she could be replaced and her asking for a month to make the manual was a desperate attempt to get a month's salary, but without that manual, she still has the keys to the kingdom. The automation she made really for her own personal use to make her job more manageable was treated like a finished product you'd find in the app store, but it's actually more like an Excel spreadsheet with all the macros and formulas needed to make a 40 man hours per day job into a regular 9-5. If he had kept her on for a month to make the manual, anybody could've used the program to do her job, and in most companies, making manuals like that is a normal practice that's baked into everything so this kind of problem never happens, but she made the program for her own personal use without any oversight or support. He's just never had to think about it until now.

The only difference between a greedy idiot and a competent vulture is that the vulture is lucky enough to not stumble head first into any active landmines like this one and when they do set anything off or see the corpse start to collapse around them, they hightail it outta there before they suffer any real damage.

I have to agree. I love seeing him breakdown as much of the next guy, but I don't even think he's sure of anything he does. It's not like he comes up with decent ideas on paper only for them to be undermined because of his attitude towards his employees. He's just stupid and disdainful.

The satisfaction of seeing him fail doesn't hit as hard because of it.

Successfully with that kind of attitude? Very doubtful.
success on the actual good work and mental health from many workers, probably only good in the short or at best medium term, story probably will explain the holes he leaves with his changes in other places.
I have a boss that thinks he did a lot in the past, luckily a coworker knows him from that other company, he's full of sh!t hahaha

Hm wonder how much exp the author has dealing with office/coworkers like this but you'd think there'd be some ppl willing to hire foreign/freelance ones too unless even the foreign programmers would be demand like triple pay or so lol

how did this guy get so high up to begin with, even if programming exp isn't a requirement , but dang you'd think you'd be self aware to realize ur laughing like an evil villain

This fuckin' guy! I want to watch him fail, but so far he's just dragging down everybody around him. The revenge doesn't taste sweet it tastes like a crap sandwich.
Be great if they had recordings /testimonials about him overworking ppl (tho idk if JP would take it seriously b/c 'black companies' are a term to begin with) and getting stripped of his title/demoted/etc or so if not exposed and the company also tanking or so versus some kinda bailout

I disagree. I met plenty of bosses like this. Yes, they're so comical that it's unrealistic, but they actually exist and I hate it.

Restructuring many company is technically a bad sign. Cause he wasn't able to fix said company and just jumped boat after "profit were met" the problem bow is he couldn't meet profit because he fired the wrong woman.
Being fair, in isolation, it could be that someone doing many restructurings is specialized and only called when shit is so bad that the only real options are restructuring or bankruptcy (and likely dissolution).

But, of course, it's not, because he clearly shows he's an incompetent asshole with an inflated ego who's generally able to get positive short term results (after which he jumps ship and it doesn't care if the company crashes then).

This guy may be the boss of the company, but when Satou Ai shows up, he's the one who hears the boss music!

Kinda crazy that he wants to ruin Ai's career. I would think he'd be too busy fixing his own mistakes.

One of the easiest ways to boost short-term profits (so you can collect your bonus and move on) is cut most R&D or New Product Development. You can get rid of a lot of higher-cost employees, boosting profits, but then as your products become obsolete you have nothing new to sell. Of course the later failure is blamed on the sucker in the position at that time.

What manchild, just take the L and move on, harassing that woman will only waste money and earn you a criminal charge for obstruction of business

Before he was dumb and incompetent, acting out of ignorance, thinking that he was dealing with a regular company whose survival was not entirely dependent on the availability of one person, and who had no contingency at all whatsoever for the scenario in which that person would be gone

But now he is being straight out malicious, and going out of his way to make life worse for people out of an unwarranted grudge, because it is not even Satou's fault that the whole company ended up resting on her shoulders and they never put in place any failsafe options
