Goes a bit absurd near the end, but hey, w/e, it tells quite a story.

@gr8g this can definitely be good material for a tv series with a diverse cast in different settings..

But unlikely because the story pokes at many places, the Chinese government for example.

I don't know... I have read 12 chapters and I don't understand anything. There are many holes in story.

The first 60 chapters or so are marvellous, the characters, the world building, It was great. When the author introduced the cheap comedy moments the manga started to go downhill, all the ending arcs and the story after mana's rescue is like reading a retarded cheesy evangelion parody.
It's a really good read overall but you have to keep in mind that it is another manga whose mangaka couldn't come with a proper ending

Yep, read this years ago on a crazy whim. Seemed like it would bore tf out of me before I actually began reading. Can safely say it's a damn shame that completed, great stories like this, and Akumetsu are among the ones that never get picked for another medium like anime or film. One of the top 5 manga I ever read.

Just finished this like 10 mins ago and I'd definitely say without a doubt that this is definitely one of the best Manga I've ever read and is one of my favorites.

It's pretty hard keeping up with all the names and faces and stuff but that makes it more believeable imo. Overall great story, characters, art, fast paced scenes and world building. This prolly has the best racial and world representation I've ever seen in a Manga. It captures the real world perfectly.
Some of the parts the pacing was so fast and some other parts delves deep into philosophical real world concepts like religion, ethnic groups, power struggles, homosexuality etc that I had to go back a few pages and read again but it was fun nonetheless.

If you're in for the story. Then this is for you, this story is definitely not for people who just wanna see fights and stuff. It's very sophisticated but tries to be as simple as possible but it can get confusing so just be attentive when reading this.

I swear Kenji is the Levi Ackerman of this story but there are a bunch more badass characters tho😂

SPOILER.

The ending was pretty confusing at most but definitely gave me Evangelion vibes with the whole colloid thing. Basically the colloid and LCL are the same thing in the sense that it strives towards human instrumentality. Which are both super beings with the collective consciousness of billions of people.

I was really interested with the whole "new universe" concept but I guess we'll never know

This manga is a hidden gem

My dog died as I was finishing reading it and since the whole story was pretty depressing as a whole I wasn't looking forward to finishing it and adding on to my depression. However, all things considered I was genuinely happy with the ending and it actually pulled me out of my funk for a minute. The art is great, the characters are well fleshed out and feel like real people, and the action is gritty despite it being a manga. Definitely one of my top 5 reads dont sleep on this.

This is probably the best manga I've ever read so far but don't have the stomach to reread. That time-skip and the sudden development to a certain woman only to be killed like some side characters right after. It hurts my soul

Misery and horror all the way (well I stopped at chapter 40 anyway). All I hate. Read that if you just want to hurt yourself and believe you're an adult because you watch people suffering.

The manga is alright, but the anti capitalist overtones are really, REALLY annoying. Yes, we get it. There's inequality. There is inequality in EVERYTHING. Nothing is made to be the exact same, not even in nature. Some things are stronger, smarter, more pure, or function better. Whining about the divide in wealth does nothing. Only in first world countries can someone cry about this crap. Those in power in Japan and the US are elected. Elect someone else if you don't like it.

And I don't need to hear about racism from a guy hailing from one of the most xenophobic and racist countries on the planet to this day, that have committed UNSPEAKABLE ATROCITIES because they felt they were the genetically superior Asian.

I don't need to take morality queues from a mangaka that clearly hasn't seen or experienced the bigotry that he's writing about.

Gnosticism is so dumb, dude. No wonder it never amassed a large following and subsequently died out. It plays out like people wanting to write Old Testament fan fiction.

so fucking true, the manga has too many moments of bitching about "RAcIsM" or "OppREsion" and "DisCriminaTion" all write by someone who most likely never experience any form of that, its shallow and boring, and the worse, happens too often for no real reason but virtue signal as ally of the "MinOriTies".

I dropped this at chapter 72 and skipped right to the end and i found it to be garbage, it started entertaining and i really liked how brutal it was, the degree to which bodies were torn apart and how so unceremoniusly characters were dispatched in horrible ways despite their best efforst or being deserving of a better fate, but then the plot armor of the regular characters become annoying, you have kenji, sophia and elliah constantly seeing themselves in life or death situations were they never received any major injury, and if they did it was meaningless because the character in question was a fucking cyborg, kenji dispatching waves after waves of soldiers only with fucking knives and elliah never receiving more than a few punches in the face, this took away tension in the fights because you knew they were going to get away without injury or consequence, and the brutal killing of minor characters became the norm, predictable, you knew it was coming and when it was coming, usually when the characters were about to escape to other nation or just about to be rescue, this made the fights dull and uninteresting and the deaths meaningless.

Also a recurring theme of the work was "imperialism bad, minority group good, central governtment bad, opressed people good", there was no moral dilemma the work clearly presented some people as good and some as bad, some as clearly right and some as clearly wrong, by chapter 72 propatria was the big baddie yet there wasnt any major or relevant character on propatria side, we never get to see their perspective just the moral compass of the slut, the gary stue, the prostitude and the retard, those being sophia, kenji, helena and elliah respectively. The author introduces a lot of characters that exist for no other purpose than to be non white non straight non christian, making empashis on those things like they were virtues, he introduced ahmed and let you know he was muslim or gloria and let you know she was a faggot, those werent their names, i didnt bother to remember them. Shallow useless virtue signaling, this manga does that a lot, it amazes me to think a japanese wrote this instead of a biden voting imbecile, i guess the author must have vote for his japanese equivalent quite regularly.

And the idiotic ending of
having crystal penis shooting its beam of sperm light into the grativy/antigravity egg to give life to a new universe, oh, and having the main baddie, or at least i think that was him, being defeated by oh no, poor people's "despair". So yes, that was that, the art was really good, the brutality of the combats was also great and the shocking deaths were good, but those two became a regular ocurrence without any major consequence so stopped being interesting, the characters were just fine at best and annoying at worst, and childish stupid comedy became the norm around chapter 50 something, i give it an 5 out of 10.

i like how everyone hates how it ends with with the coloid shooting into the stars.
but nobody complains how the last ark feels rushed to all hell
compared to the others.

although i dont like the ending, it's for different reasons; one of them being that we're just not given much hope, the coloid was humanity's technological peak, with no chance to reach it again, and the collapse of capitalism is acted, so there's no more space expansion possible..
it's hands down one of the most realistic, sadistic, gruelling seinens out there. and i've seen some fucked up shit.
thing is, it never delves into torture porn or mysoginy, like some of those stories.
there's little moments of bliss that just support the rest of the really, really depressing story. and these moments are just delish.

whoever hasnt got through eden yet has the right to discover them.

also the author picked this song as his ending, People get ready, by the Impressions. youtube link hella good choice imho.
