All this talk about the sudden ending and the original source material and I'm just here wondering why Alexia's hair kept changing length.

Found another person who didn't read the comment section.

We're still unsure exactly why the original sourse ended where it did and why so abruptly too,up until someone who can find the source and find any statements regarding the original source.

But this comic, for intents and purposes,is NOT cancelled, this IS the actual ending for the comic as per the original source material.
This isn't the first time I have seen a manga adaptation of a novel that ended prematurely.

I cannot find the logic in it, why would they even bother wasting the money and resources for these types of unfinished novels?

Is it some attempt to use the manga ver. as a measure of interest? To see if it is worth continuing the novel?

Personally, I feel like this story didn't really had any potential to begin with. It was always really rushed and surface-level, but that was also what was fun about it --- something you spend an afternoon-ish with, and then continue on to do something else. That's perfectly fine. Kinda.
that may be, but I've been craving stories that have GL at the forefront but aren't strictly GL romance stories. and this fit the bill for that, a gothic horror adventure where Belmont just so happens to be a woman this time

of course there might be stuff like that where I'm just unaware. anyone who know of any, please let me know
although I've recently started delving into baihe, and the authors there seem to be experimenting more with genres, so the craving is starting to feel a little more sated

Sometimes yes, othertimes just to get more sales of the novel if the comic only does part of the story.

Basically squeezing all they can out of the already stagnated IP before moving on without actually continuing it.

I've even seen some where they stop production of the comic version due to low sales or even the artist deciding to quit over one reason or another.

It's all the same end result, great ideas being left to rot behind a pointless copyright system for years on end, with nearly everyone forgetting the IP was even there.

if you read the other stuff on Nsyosetu of Togoro Sasa's stuff, Writing lesbian romance only to hard pivot PoV characters arbitrarily, derail the plot, and then abandoning the story is practically their entire writing style.

to be fair SPECIFICALLY to this story, its the only one that didnt so much derail so much as the plot never really started.

frankly it would have worked better if Alexia was the PoV character tracking Yuri and working through the whole events of each hunt.

Edit: in fact, anything past ch12p19 in this is actually completely original to the manga. theres no indication of a Progenitor Vampire in the source text

Huh.

Maybe it was in the original but lost, somehow,or was something the author realised they should've added.

no, its explained in some narration (probably from Alexia's PoV) about how whats her horny was one of the progenitor vampires and that Yuri, and by extrapolation Rinslet, are some of the strongest, and the #1 and #2 most wanted by the Arbiter Knight order Vampires known. Especially because a vampire gains the general power of the blood they consume, and Yuri exclusively feeds on other vampires.

Alexia's alliance with Yuri is never an alliance, so much as Alexia offering respect to Yuri for maintaining the oaths she took even as an ex-order member and that Yuri is doing this out of respect for Alexia as a warrior, an ideal, and a huntress. they are implied to conclude each mission debrief in the same way of Yuri telling Alexia that she should have killed Yuri all those years ago, and Alexia vowing to keep up the hunt for The Vampire's Slayer. When they meet in the webnovel, Alexia receives and writes the mission debrief from Yuri for the order on the mission that Rinslet failed.

Edit: oh, and IIRC Yuri killed the previous wielder of The Vampire Slayer and returned the sword to the order. not the Anime guy
