According to the wiki, the main defining ability of a Planeswalker is the ability to see and travel to other planes of existence. Traveling between planes is like a spell, and may be simpler for some than others.
I will also add that, from what I know about the lore, but the players of MTG are planeswalkers that mainly summon creatures and spells from different planes. So, it could just be that he can summon creatures just fine, but doesn't know the specific magic for traveling to a different plane. Or, maybe he just hasn't thought of it, since this part of the lore doesn't really affect the game.

"magic walker" IE their version of a planeswalker. also note the fact that she can cast spells, which has always been the exclusive realm of planeswalkers, and she's significantly tougher than anything else out there, she's definitely a planeswalker
@Tairo
yeah, players are very definitely planeswalkers, which is interesting because all players have 20 hitpoints. which always makes me think that for summoning planeswalkers. wouldn't loyalty literally be loyalty? IE it's how far a planeswalker is willing to go for you, how injured they will get before they leave the battle
