He really watched the whole thing, treated it like a video game scene, complained about the performance not being entertaining enough for him, didn't report those guys despite being a witness, and in the end was relieved that at least she wasn't his type.

The “eroge cutscene” gimmick really sucked the life out of this. There’s an attempt to write the scene as a depiction of the world‘s brutality, lawlessness, and the harsh power dynamics of a strict levelling system. But it‘s framed within a half-hearted video game gag that kills the tension and sells what could have been a defining moment of setting stakes into a disassociated cowardly psychopathy from the MC. It’s a flat scene that’s neither tense nor funny. Pick a lane, author.
