" Debuff " char are weakest type ...

Did this series creator actually want mocking mmorpg player ??

Of course debuff player are not physically or magically strongest ...but saying them weakest like very low ...very personal offence at me tbh

Because he's not deemed weak because he uses debuffs, and all the implications and associations that you're zooming ahead with, but because his "letter grade" from whatever the magic that appraises their potential is "E".

In the previous chapter, someone just asked about that, if "S" is just standard japanese "S-rank", or like we learned with the MC, stands for something.

First, debuff abilities are (supposedly) weak in this world. Low effect, low hit rate, etc. MC is only strong because his debuffs always apply, even against vastly higher level characters. And MC's drain/poison abilities aren't fixed amounts but rather "% of HP".

Secondly there's a suspicion that debuff abilities aren't quite as weak as the goddess claimed. I.e. maybe the goddess got rid of him precisely because he was a threat.

Looked at from an MMO PoV, the MC's abilities are absurdly unbalanced. Keep in mind that most of his kills are done while he takes no damage at all. He would be an incredibly boring class to play.

It's not debuff though? It's abnormal status infliction. =/ A debuffer is the opposite of a buffer, thus, someone who lowers stats instead of increasing them. They are both utility roles, but in games such as Pokémon or Etrian Odyssey, the difference is noticeable. (I will grant you that some abnormal statuses do cause stat drops sometimes, but that is not always the case) Also note that in those games, the abnormal statuses often have a low chance to hit (Pokémon being the exception, since hit chance is usually close to 100% if you use Thunder Wave), kind of like in this manga.

Not sure, but it just feels "fresh" to me, or something. MC not some painful horny dense virginlet, neither cringelord that exudes second hand embarrassment aura. Or at least that's the current opinion I have of him.
(btw, MC has "slime super saiyan" mode lol)

the same can be said for almost any other "X is the weakest, but I'm the strongest using it" story; very rarely is it executed in a reasonable or believable manner
iirc in this case, it's because every other debuff user in this world has low success rate in applying the status effects, but even then, it feels like it's just a poor excuse unless they're so low that it's just faster and safer to kill things conventionally.

Favorite is dragon tamer is weakest. Let’s just make the usually most powerful and or legendary creature and pretend it’s weak for story in a world where everything powerful is named after dragons.

Etrian Odyssey mentioned? I see you are a man of culture as well.

Replaying Etrian Odyssey Nexus with the Overhaul mod these days. It balanced a few classes (Makes Protector more like a EO5 Shaman, but still has defensive options) and can be installed with the mod that adds Buccaneer + Alchemist back in the game. The Overhauled classes also don't have the level gates up. (It does mean that all the others who kept their skills and merely got their % tweaked still have 'em)
