The anxiety is 2-fold

• personal space: it’s uncomfortable when people you barely know get so physically close but also all buddy-buddy with you. And it’s hard to speak out when they’re senior to you.
• food: family and in-laws can be overbearing in making you eat and this feels more acute for women. Like why do you want me to eat so much, I’m already full? Why are you making weird comments about my body? What is it to you?? Which then manifests into the horror that the “concern” is monstrous, because why else would this nosy bitch without personal boundaries keep insisting I eat her cooking

That sounds like an interesting premise for a comedy horror manga. She could just keep running into people in town that are kind of terrifying but what they do turns out not to be as bad as it first appears.

It reflects the anxiety people feel about our modern industrialized food production systems.

Back in the day you could always count on incestuous cannibal clans to be one of the few remaining bastions of true artisanal cuisine, preparing Michelin-grade long pork sashimi and Donner kebabs out of only the most carefully selected ingredients. Nowadays they've grown just as addicted to pre-prepared meals as the rest of us; their curatorial zeal for their raw materials and their fastidious attention to the minutia of the culinary arts is gone and when they start feeling a mite peckish they grab the nearest in-law, dislocate their jaw, and go to town just like the rest of us lazy slobs.
