It shows that he doesn't have empathy, or a passion to help others. He's a psychopath who will kill those that annoy him or that he can gain from.

Why should morality matter to him? He's spent enough time working for those in the world, only for him to have to do it again, even after 10 years.

Why shouldn't he kill all of them? Killing those that he did allowed for the major problems of the world to be solved. The small ones, like lost cats, thieves, side quests, and gathering quests shouldn't really matter, no?

Why is he a psychopath? He knew his goals, and followed them to a T. He did it in (nearly) the fastest possible time, and achieved the end goal. Well, thinking about that one a little more may make your point hold true, but to that I say, why should it be a negative thing? Surely, after reading so many manga with similar storylines, it is obvious how being 'right and just' never really works out, and always leads to psychopathy to an extent, anyway. There's always a point in which the hero 'goes mad with rage' etc etc.

What is the point in being kind and fair in the face of those who do not care for others, either? He killed a racist ruler who was to die, anyway, nipped corruption in the bud and gave power to those pure of heart, gave no slack to the rich and royal, and brought order to the place he came from. Why is this being ignored? For what, being ruthless in how he did it? If done the 'proper way', many who were executed would have either 'gotten away' with their crimes, or only been imprisoned. Setting the precedence that there is no real punishment for crimes as the manga describes only allows for lenience, which, in turn, only leads to ignorance and so further perpetuation of said people. As a consequence of what the hero did, other nations began to deal with their own problems, and even feared the hero, for they knew what would happen to them if they allowed him to intervene.

It's not really his fault if others don't like his methods. Sure, they are questionable, but they worked, no? Bear in mind that this isn't real, nor is it realistic, nor will it ever happen. Questioning morality isn't really necessary here.

At this point, what he did was the lesser of two evils, and is (somewhat) justified, in my opinion. If he didn't sweep up the kingdom in the speed that he did, then the corruption and malice would have continued for a further 6+ years. That is an awfully long time, especially in how people were being sacrificed for the demonic prayers, as well as for the nobles to level up.

Then again, even in saying all that, would I do the same as what he did? Who knows, who cares? I certainly don't.

Off to the next summon hero/reincarnate manga, I guess. Actually, maybe another cultivation manga? Maybe number 34 will be different from the last 33...

God, the fact that so many people here agree with the hero is unsettling.

It should be blatantly obvious that the point of this is not 'Save the world', but rather to improve upon the world as a whole, and to improve the personality, skills, and morals of the hero.

If the heroes are sent back to earth with their powers as it seems is the case, the end goal is likely to create a bunch of righteous and good heroes to make earth better. Maybe for a fight against some other force, who knows.

But the way the hero goes about things is simply psychotic. He murders because people are annoying, he doesn't care about innocent casualties as long as he gets what he wants in the end.

The reason his reputation was low isn't because 'People pinned the blame on me!!' it's because he was a ruthless dictator who murdered people on a whim, and only cared about getting stronger just so he could leave.

he was only that way because he was forced to suffer the first time around and was failed because the suffering got to him, he only killed his comrades the first time because he was worried he wouldn't be enough to kill the demon king, when in the end the demon king would always be the same level as he was.

The whole world was built to make the hero suffer. it's not his fault.

To be fair she is basically praising him despite having failed, its not something people are happy about.
If somebody came to you after an exam and said you had a perfect 100 % score.
But you still failed the class because the teachers don't like you for missing out on the field trip witch you were unawere were mandatory to begin with.
How would you feel ?
He was never told he had to be a nice person or anything the first time around, and in all fairness he seem to have been...most of the time.

You missed the point, he did technically complete the objective but also made unhabitable land for generations and slaughtered plenty of innocent people, he saved the world but doomed the people.

He failed the test, he didn't have a perfect 100% score, she praised him for being good in some cases, it's a form of encouragement.

He was self aware few times in 2nd run, now right after summoning too...

He killed his comrades because they all were having problems of their own and instead doing something about it, let off the steam on him, unfortunately.

It's usual thing in RPG to gather a bunch of companions and by helping them, bond with them. Problem is in a RPG match or a game, solution is usually clearly right there or somewhere rather obvious, this is "real world scenario".

Sylvia the elf princess seems to be one one hell of a case, looks like her father issues and mother cheating on a freaking Demon King passed on to her, then own slavery after attempt rescue of some of her kin that were supposed to be kidnapped by Demon King might loosen some screws...

Some of y'all need to be put in a list somewhere. You're really feeling sorry for the psychopathic narcissist who killed and rendered half a continent uninhabitable just for some exp? It seems you're missing the point that even if what some of what he did would be considered a "good deed," he did it for the wrong reasons.

Even if he was actually treated like shit the first round and was trying to act like a hero, the fact that he killed his comrades out of spite is a huge red flag, so how can you accept returning someone like that to earth AND with his powers too.

I like this reset. The second route felt way too short and I was thinking about dropping it after chapter 37. However this reset changes everything
