i think because the citizens didn’t really see the monsters themselves, they didn’t really feel gratitude towards him. he should’ve let a few monsters past the walls, and stepped in while a monster is about to kill someone, or like step in after the guards found the situation helpless like when both guards and citizens are dying (but the latter would cost him hero points i guess). and if he has stepped in, he should hide his skills a bit. his reputation would rise if they think his life is at stake. he took care of it fast and out of their eyes, so they didn’t feel the fear of dying - they didn’t really feel gratitude since they didn’t really feel like they needed drastic saving just my thoughts lol
