I was going to say "Aw hell naw. Another divine being getting added to the shitlist? Also its kinda sad she got duped as a kid trying to help. I won't lie, I'm alla bout that revenge that tastes like blood... but this time I'm feeling a little bad. It’s not really redemption. More like adding the goddess of war to Raoul s revenge list.
To be fair, Victoria has already been shown having been possessed by a god already, she lost her virginity as the Goddess of Love took over her body and assaulted Raoul after all (Chapters 80 and 81). The idea of the gods taking over Victoria's body as a tool to personally carry out their whims on Raoul has long been established.shit like this needs a stronger foundation to stand on to truly work. Going back and retconning characterization under the guise of "recontextualizing" it without a hint of foreshadowing just comes off as sloppy writing no matter how well you "planned it all"
Also no a redemption to show Victoria was manipulated long agoIt’s not really redemption. More like adding the goddess of war to Raoul s revenge list.
Really? That's how japanese justify their warcrimes?people do evil because they got tainted by something -- the problem essentially is the taint -- remove the taint, and they go back to normal".
the great reveal finally appeared, and it seems... victoria wasnt fully... victoria? thats... actually valid

There was an evil shadow god puppet master wearing her skin all along acting on her behalf, real Victoria was actually an innocent lil girl all along!Author fully intends to redeem Victoria huh? Oh well, let's see what happens. At least this series is interesting enough to warrant such following.
I agree when we found out that the Saintess was being manipulated and deceived by the goddess of love, somehow she didn't got a tragic flashback of the goddess absolving her of responsibilityThis isn't "redemption". Redemption is when a person realizes that they've done wrong and reverses course.
But "True Victoria" isn't responsible for all of this. It wasn't her choice. So it's not her guilt. (Though I doubt that she'll feel that way.)
The problems with redemption stories:
Type 1) The story where the author revels in portraying an evil character, but then wants that character to get away with it and not suffer the retribution they deserve. Essentially, the author themselves is a sociopath. (Sylvanas in World of Warcraft.)
Type 2) West vs East Ethos. In the west, individuals are responsible for their own actions -- when a person chooses to do evil, that's purely their choice. Vs. East (well Japan at least), there's a very strong ethos of "people do evil because they got tainted by something -- the problem essentially is the taint -- remove the taint, and they go back to normal". (Naruto, repeatedly.)
But in this manga:
Type 1) the author did not wallow in Victoria's misdeeds. And she was roundly and horribly punished already.
Type 2) A ton of other characters did willfully commit evil and have been punished. If Victoria is getting a "not my fault" it's very much the exception to the rest of the story. I.e. it does not represent a general ethos.
So I don't see either of the redemption problems in this arc.
None of this makes any sense. How the hell could something this big have happened in the past and yet theres never been any hint of it. Why did Raoul himself not know or mention it at all, especially after he obtained godhood? If his memories were erased, surely he would have gotten them back upon dying, especially after obtaining godhood.
I agree when we found out that the Saintess was being manipulated and deceived by the goddess of love, somehow she didn't got a tragic flashback of the goddess absolving her of responsibility
This is essentially the same thing, but he is bending backwards to make Victoria a kid who is not an agent
I mean the moment it was revealed she was mind controlled since the beginning I already questioned how much fault she deserved.Author fully intends to redeem Victoria huh? Oh well, let's see what happens. At least this series is interesting enough to warrant such following.
So that means she can actually go to hell directly with her mortal body without having to die first.the great reveal finally appeared, and it seems... victoria wasnt fully... victoria? thats... actually valid

Rather than redeeming Vicky, lets see the more immediate problem here.Author fully intends to redeem Victoria huh? Oh well, let's see what happens. At least this series is interesting enough to warrant such following.
Raoul gave the Saintess a chance to redeem herself in hell and the Saintess proved herself to be a selfish narcissist ready to sacrifice others to save herself. There was nothing to redeem there.I agree when we found out that the Saintess was being manipulated and deceived by the goddess of love, somehow she didn't got a tragic flashback of the goddess absolving her of responsibility
