I see a lot of people calling this manga and similar stories trash.
And I agree, to a point.
But these edgefests, these "revenge" plots, are not to be taken seriously.
They are the entretainment equivalent of eating an unhealthy snack.
You know they're not that good, but you can find some joy in consuming it.
Like bubblegum or a cigarrette. You don't really get any substance from it, and it might be unhealthy for you and annoying to those around you, but it's one of those little pleasures you indulge yourself from time to time.
So just light up and enjoy or, please, go to the non-smoker's area.

This series is so outlandishly edgy, gory, and cruel that it turns into something more like a dark comedy rather than a gritty revenge story.

This series is like a chocalate bar, you take a bite and it melts in your mouth. does it taste good? Yeah of course its a chocalate bar its tasty and you enjoy it.
However theres no substance, nothing to grab onto to make you go "WOW this is a gourmet meal right here"

Are the vengeance scenes enjoyable? Yeah, they are
Are the characters that we see getting avenged or the targets of said vengeance deep characters? No, most of the characters are boiled down to "This guy is evil, see he did the evil thing." and "This guy was good, see he did the good thing but now he's dead"

If this series had atleast like 1 chapter atleast trying to get me attached to any of the characters like the sister or the soldiers, or a chapter making me hate the enemies then it would have been a solid 8/10.

Again its like a candy bar. It's a simple series that seeks to give you simple satisfaction, and it does that well.

TL;DR
1 Star was substracted due to lack of attachment to any characters(which the series doesn't try to fix)
1 Star was substracted due to lack of attempts to make me actually dislike the enemies beyond "hey look this person kills people"
1 Star was substracted due to the overall lack of character in any of the characters, main boi is the only one with any semblance of personality.

How the fuck did you get "the revenge victims are nice" from my sentence? I said the complete opposite, that they had NO redeeming qualities in the slightest, which is why they're boring to listen too beyond a quick moment of "woo the evil dude/gal died"

gotta say, this gore fest is my guilty pleasure.
whole thing's edgy and 2d as f**k, story sucks, but damn that gore's good s**t.
sometimes you don't want to hear the villain's tragic backstory, you just want to see them suffer. and this thing is super good for that.
...so like, if you're looking for good story, this isn't a good manga. if you're looking for a quick hit of revenge porn, this is great.
