Brickmaking technology has been around for millennia, so this latest "innovation" feels gimmicky. Now, grout and cement, that would be an innovation worth pursuing.
Yeah feels like they're dumbing down the technological level to have MC act as a "savior", now Roman concrete that would be crazy those fucking structures are still standing even when under sea water.

I refuse to believe that these people are this brick dense ba dum ts

People use clay forever, most if not all civilizations know pottery since it’s one of a few ways accessible to ancient people to carry large amounts of liquid from one place to another. If one knows how to make a pot, there is no way they wouldn’t discover bricks. Unless the king monopolizes clay too.

Ah Kabaneri. What a wild ride, literally and figuratively. And now I just saw it has three films which I haven't watched yet.

I don't know much about technological levels of advancement, but I always want to see suspension systems like the springs and rubber tires for wagons and bicycles in these types of manga.

Finally the isekai-ish fantasy elements really are emerging.
I always forget that he is just not in a different era but hypothetically, a different world from his former life.
All of the advancements he is planning to implement seem mundane (well technologically advanced to his current world), but it seems he might also need to find a way to come up with a 'weapon' of some sorts to also drive away these demon-beasts.
Let's hope there is no maou (demon lord) in their world as well.

with how much restriction that they had either by the environment (demons) or by their own government I can still believe those're the cause of technological decline in this world. dealing with wild beast is easy, even most of the time they would avoid human especially in group. but those poor people doesn't seem to have any fantasy power to deal with enhanced demon. this limits exploration and expansion to spark natural innovation as they're more focused on survival.

MC needs to gain access to what resources his kingdom holds as monopoly and I'm sure if he connects the dot plenty of things would be revealed

It's because of the education system dropping subjects as the years went on, minimizing what they made sure every settlement had to learn, until now when there's a lot of lost knowledge/technology.

Imagine starting over from now, with all the knowledge and technology we have right now, how many branches on the tech tree can you just outright bypass for your new settlement? This world is in new game plus, and people have been min/maxing every generation, to the point that only rich villages teach math and most people don't read. They covered this when Ash started his research into fertilizers, the Church has a stack of books they are supposed to pass on to every new village, and they've been leaving books off the list that people think don't make sense as a necessity.

I'm almost certain that bricks have been around longer than complex wood construction such as daubed houses. Bricks can literally be as simple as hardened mud blocks. It doesn't even have to be fired ash and clay bricks. :bleh:
