No matter their intentions their first actions show their quality. Cooperation derived from violence has no foundation. They have shown from the start that they cannot be trusted. Even if they sorted out the troublemakers the ones that are let in will carry deep seeded grudges for the loved ones that perish outside. They should just leave them be. They'll starve to death eventually.

Good. A show of force to enstablish deterrence while keeping diplomatic channels open and not killing any human to not cause a retaliation. This is exactly how to seek a diplomatic solution to conflict.

And I hate how all the other comments are calling for escalation and all out war, as if that was the only way to solve controversies. Y'all sadden me, ready to answer any minor issue with war and cause unnecessary deaths both among your people and the others, not in the least mindful of the value of life
Yeah this always happens in comment sections for fantasy manga... Weebs are often horny af (even towards underage girls in manga) and fuckin' war mongerers.

Re:Monster is such a beloved manga even though the MC literally rapes (via drugging them with super intense aphrodisiac) elves that were FORCED to attack his tribe by a really stupid elf noble.

I know she's supposed to be a nice character, but it's still a bit annoying to me just how totally forgiving she is, here. Like yeah, they're not all bad, but the chief also makes no attempt to apologize for the behavior of the one saying they should just take the village by force. If he's not willing to take responsibility for the group's actions, there's no reason to trust them as a group.

Killing them all is obviously too far, but I think when a group includes those with intent to invade, and a leader who seemingly ignores it, the response should be "nah, get the fuck out".

It's so touching how Lan continues to be that trusted older sister for Lerunda.

I like that Lerunda stood firm asserting that they can and will fight back after that dude went with his forceful threats. She only came to negotiate as requested but he was only there to be violent, so she had no choice but to make him understand in the only language he knows: force. They were being underestimated by these people.

Having these people build their own village elsewhere might be a better option than just taking them in when they have dangerous people like that guy with them. From the beastkin village's perspective he's arguably a violent criminal in their ranks and doesn't deserve a place there; it's only the absence of law that has jurisdiction over these refugees that prevents him from being labelled a such and removed from society.

If only they didn't take a hostage I would've said it's fine to just take in those who believe in peace, co-existence and cooperation, and are willing to assimilate in the community they are joining. But they are burning bridges by abducting someone to use as leverage for their demands.
